July 6, 2018 at 8:26 am #1225477I’m in the middle of a bit of an unusual project at the minute, and will be working on that for an hour or so tonight while I watch the show.
I’ve been gaming with the same group of friends for 25 years, we all played 40k together in the early years, but since then we have tried role playing games, new miniature games and board games too. As life went on, families, work and so on has made it hard to get time to play games, we all live in different parts of the country now, but we all still get together once a year to play a big game of 40K.
My friend Simon has played imperial guard all that time, his Tallern army has models in it he first bought in 1992, and he really wanted a new centerpiece for this years game, and fancied the Macharius tanks from foregworld. But, £100 for a tank n a game you play once a year is a bit much for his gaming budget, so found a 1/35 scale model by Meng of a King Tiger going cheap for £20, its about the same size as the forgeworld model, and have been painting it up for him so he has his counts as Macharius model.
I’ve enjoyed doing this, normally painting a scale model means being really accurate with colours and details, but here, I could just paint it in desert yellow and focus on making it look war weary and weathered. Still have the tracks to put together, and then to add final dirt and things, which is hopefully what I can do tonight.
July 6, 2018 at 10:12 am #1225549Tonight I plan to have a crack at using green stuff to make a cape for a legion model.
Ive never tried this before so does anyone have any advice they can give me with this endeavour? other than, use lots of water?
July 6, 2018 at 10:20 am #1225550So after completing the purple sun last night in 30 minutes https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/30-minute-purple-sun-start-to-finish/
Tonight I thought I would set the challenge of how many of the endless spells can I paint to a good tabletop standard during the hobby night live.
Going to aim for 3-4 but we shall see.
July 6, 2018 at 10:43 am #1225554Just waiting for the static grass to come , finish the spooks. also been finishing the renegade scenery. Before returning to my death guard to try and finish them before the end of the year
July 6, 2018 at 11:08 am #1225559I’ll be working on Shrew-zerker. He’s a little small so I’m going to stand him on a rock that I have cast, hence the removal of the base and the pins.
July 6, 2018 at 11:12 am #1225561I still can’t paint due to the heat, so if I work on anything I’ll most likely be building more ashigaru for Test of Honour.
July 6, 2018 at 11:31 am #1225564@amachan have you got a wet palette? that will help a lot with keeping paints usable
July 6, 2018 at 11:42 am #1225579@collins Yes, I always use a wet palette, but that doesn’t help when I pick up the paint and it dries before I reach the model. Also the wet palette dries out in about half an hour.
July 6, 2018 at 3:20 pm #1225731I will be working on my Imperial Knight force, I brought the Cerastus Knight castigator last August while visiting Warhammer World, I started putting it together and under coated it but then got distracted with other projects
When the new Knights codex came out and GW re-released the Renegade box set it gave me the push to start working on it again, I decided go house Griffith as I had painted a knight a few years ago and really liked the scheme
Unlike with my previous knights and the Castigator which I used the drybrush technique to base coat most of the metallic areas I made use of the lead belcher spray which really cut down on the base coating time, I have also used army painter bone spray for the armour panels
