@warzan: I agree, and I’m not even a fan of GW. The problem isn’t them trying to improve, it’s fans if an IP clinging to ‘canon’ as if it was gospel truth, when the reality is that things need to evolve to remain fresh. It’s not a GW issue. It’s the same for any fandom with a long history (Star Wars, Star Trek, DC/Marvel, Dr Who, etc. all spring to mind)
February 8, 2019 at 9:17 am #1345401don’t envy GW in this, the fluff originally structured its self to coverup for a lack of resource, it now has to change to enable growth and improvements of the range.
@warzan that’s true. currently they can only go in one direction and that’s always “wrong direction” on depending who you ask. So maybe a reboot would be good. Or a “lore cut off” like Disney did with Star Wars. Not popular but could lead to a solid foundation on which to build upon.
February 8, 2019 at 9:18 am #1345407GW have had a few jests directed their way because they had released a good few Primaris Lieutenants. Every release they had was greeted with “oh is it another lieutenant?”
or something along those lines.
I suspect its just a tongue in cheek comment to poke fun at that …
Aside from that Warmaster Abbadon is coming 😀 Happiness!
February 8, 2019 at 9:20 am #1345416Agreed @theamazingmrg unfortunately some fans invest them selves into something so hard their actually begin to tie their own sense of self worth to it – and change threatens them 🙁 (and its almost completely unconscious and not a choice by the fan)
Its sad for all involved really as it sucks the fun out of something thats very reason to exist is to be… fun
February 8, 2019 at 9:23 am #1345427February 8, 2019 at 10:50 am #1345543I find it funny that they had to go through all this convoluted alterations in the lore and come up with genuine reasons why space marines got bigger and their armour changed. I remember when this was a space marine:
And then a decade later this was a space marine:
Me: Why?
GW: Dunno, i guess they had new armour made or something *shrug* looks cool though dunnit?
Me: yeah it does, you get a pass GW.
Moral of the story, if you want something changed just do it, then pretend that it was always like that and people will just accept it in time.
February 8, 2019 at 11:21 am #1345574Um I don’t even fallow 40k that close other than for the books and a few of the models and I got that it was a joke with them poking fun at hiwxthe primaris marines have been released.
February 8, 2019 at 11:26 am #1345587Ohh and sorry to add, I just noticed there is a dead lieutenant on his base!!! “The Primaris Lieutenant You’ve Been Waiting For” makes more and more sense now!
February 8, 2019 at 11:50 am #1345606@amazingmrg Nah, first post came out condescending of GW. When you criticise a joke you don’t understand you become part of it. Can’t retro-actively spin that.
@sundancer Yes, I can turn off notifications now, but it’s that first post that brought it to me. Don’t start playing victim all of a sudden just cos’ you’re arrogance got highlighted, lol.
February 8, 2019 at 11:56 am #1345611I find that title amusing. It’s like it says “we think that everyone wants more Primaris Marines”. Primaris Marines being pushed so hard that it has brought rumors that GW might eventually discontinue they regular Space Marine line and remove those as option. That rumor is reason why I went to Chaos because that way I don’t have to worry if models that I buy get removed and it turns out that I spend my time and money for nothing. Of course I still have my two Space Marines armies that I build before Primaris were even thing.
February 8, 2019 at 11:58 am #1345613@timmoth: Just because you interpreted something incorrectly and leaped to a businesses defence unnecessarily does not make treating two strangers with disdain acceptable. Neither does doubling down on your own arrogance after explanations have been given.
Honestly, I’m not concerned about how I look in this conversation. I haven’t at any point been abusive or disrespectful to another member of this site. You think whatever you wish, that’s your prerogative. But for the sake of the OtT community, just try to treat other people with more respect in the future, otherwise you’ll find the communities you’re part of becoming toxic places to be.
February 8, 2019 at 12:35 pm #1345623This is a great new Abaddon mini, well what we were shown. People have wanted a new, better model of him for years and years and now they get it. Can’t wait to see him. His Daemon Sword is highly recognisable which is always a good thing.
As for the marines getting bigger, for the people who complain about what GW do, there are also those out there who wanted larger marines or ‘true scale’ marines for years, and now we have them. Personally, I like the Primaris and they are really cool.
I know however, they are sadly replacing the marines of old, which I wish would still be available, playable and have rules for in years to come. Alas this does not seem likely.

Even back in my Warseer days there were a lot of blogs and posts with people making and converting their own truescale before Primaris were even hitted at.
