Soooo….. I guess they mean Horus or Abaddon? Either way they are both traitors from before the invention of the primaris… How can any of them be “primaris”?

Am I missing something? Or does GW simply not gif a f* and just tries to convert all marines (loyal and chaos) to primaris? oO

Genuine question: What makes you think think GW have ever been overly concerned with the consistency of their background? Particularly for 40K.

If they weren’t they would have had no need for all that primaris backstory in the first place.

That was so they could sell Primaris. Nothing more.

 

They weren’t concerned when the switch from Rogue Trader to Second Edition completely changed forces.

 

Or when the switch from second to third changed Eldar from an elite force to a horde.

 

Or when they rewrite the Necron background.

 

And there are plenty more examples. GW background has always been whatever they want it to be to drive sales.

I must confess I stopped watching GW content on background closely years ago but this just makes it look bad from the outside to a potential interested gamer. Maybe it’s time GW really does an “Endtimes” reboot in the 41st millennium… if it would mean they get their fluff straight and consistent after that

@sundancer: I foresee riots on the streets of Nottingham; the likes of which haven’t been seen since the fictional days of Robin Hood. I see the big statue outside Warhammer World being covered in toilet paper and set alight. Possibly even a cloud of fumes from burning plastic blotting out the sun!

@timmoth: I’m not sure I understand your point when neither @sundancer or I ‘bashed’ GW. He asked a question about something that confused him, and I pointed out that they have never been consistent with their IP. No judgement involved, just a simple statement of fact.

 

The fact you felt the need to immediately leap to the defence of GW by being condescending and unleasant to two strangers on the Internet when there really wasn’t any need to says a lot more about you than the others in this thread. It might be an idea to consider how you relate to others

I don’t envy GW in this, the fluff originally structured its self to coverup for a lack of resource, it now has to change to enable growth and improvements of the range.

I respect them for doing their best to try and keep things tied to the story, its an impossible task to please everyone at the best of times. So I genuinely believe their heart is in the right place on this (products need to improve after all) 🙂
