Don’t know if any of you play Guild Wars 2, but the EU servers had a rollback on Monday… 48 hours of gaming lost as they reset to the Saturday morning data… about 6 hours later they shut down to EU servers and they’re still not back up.

Personally I lost some achievements and a character I deleted was back from the dead… but some people game a lot more than I do and lost a lot more… it can all be repeated of course… but the time is lost and any lucky loot drops have disappeared.

I think what is more frustrating is the lack of communication… I still don’t know what happened… but as it is approaching 24 hours of  ‘maintenance’ I suspect that we will be resuming on the Saturday morning data.

For those of you that don’t game online… it’s a bit like finishing a dungeon in an RPG and then being told by your GM… “Sorry… lost the notes from last week. You’ll have to do it again.”

I suspect programmers working from home to social distance is not helping.

One of the few ‘social gaming’ environments has be affected by social distancing…

I wondered what was happening to them. I play on the NA servers so didn’t look into it.

Imagine having hours of finished raids lost. Fingers crossed they can fix it though.

Crafting is one of the staples of the MMORPG genre. Different games use this feature, either as a money-making method or as a way to get the most powerful items. There’s a lot of variance in the crafting systems and the impact that they have on the respective games. That being said, almost every MMORPG has some semblance of crafting.
