This is an ally commander for my Uesugi force he represents the Kakizaki Kageie clan. I have now idea what the color scheme was but I just love that there Mon is a radish. I will be painting allies later and this will be one of them.IMG_5644IMG_5645IMG_5651IMG_5653

Well done!  How many allies will there be?

The Horo worn by the elite have always fascinated me.   (Horo means arrow catcher or arrow entangler)

Seems to be a lot of debate as to whether or not they were effective, but they do add to the grandeur of Samurai.

I have heard that the Gengis Khan gave his men silk shirts before a siege and the horos are also silk. I saw a show that talked about the Horo and it seamed to be pretty effective against arrows with a simple point but bladed arrow heads I would think would just slice the silk through.

I would think bladed arrows would be used only by elite archers of the samurai class, given the general cost of making steel blades at  the time.

    I would agree with you @bvandewalker .
