@rowen80 it does look nice (not put together yet), I’m in love with Twisted, it is my perfect mix of theme, characterful rules, and gorgeous minis. It is a surprising and awesome thing about Cancon that I can talk to the people behind my favourite game as well as talk to the Judgement guys — the game I’ve been most looking at getting into. If the Frostgrave team was here it would be perfect!

@rayzryr I’ve been wondering why MTG get the nice aircon room. I guess the usual reason — more money in it! I’m not even into Magic but I kept going back and chillaxing at the tables 🙂

@rayzryr I did see a lot of traders selling gloomhaven but I’m glad I checked out all the stands first as the price differences were huge. I paid the lowest for mine at $170 but others had it up to $200+. It’s hard to balance picking up what you want as soon as you see it (at the risk of someone else grabbing it before you) and checking to see you’ve found the best price. I saw Rum & Bones at multiple stands, 1 trader selling it for $140, next trader over selling it for $50!

@jamesedwards I went to Wintercon last year and it’s way smaller, pretty much on the main exhibition shed vs. the 3 at Cancon. I’m pretty sure that Cancon is Australia’s largest con. There’s Gammacon which runs mid-year however that’s more geared to nerd culture eg, anime, comics and cosplay. Games Workshop Belconnen had two stalls setup at that where you could try out painting, play some games but that was about it. I believe that there’s one called Hammercon or something that happens in either Wagga or Bathurst but I haven’t been and aren’t sure on the details. Not much help.

That was a huge amount of stuff. It would not fit in the trunk (boot??) of my car for sure. Front and back seats for sure and my buddies could walk home.

@jamesedwards if you are Sydney based keep an eye out for MOAB (Mother of All Battles) which is usually held on the October long w/e in Sydney. Only been the once. Smaller than Cancon but a really good event from what I saw when I was up.

@rowen80 hmm yes I did see a bit of variation in pricing around too, to be expected I suppose… one trader was selling the Star Wars: Legion starter set for $100… it was mighty tempting…

Where is Gammacon run? That’s sounding more like what my daughter would want to see. Though we might go to Supanova again, much bigger and on about June in Sydney, so the heat isn’t a major factor.

@rayzryr Gammacon is held in both Wagga and Canberra. Wagga on March 23, Canberra on August 3-4.
