@evilstu The GeeDubya one was entertaining story wise and setting the scene for the new grot army. More reveals as we go with new models etc.

Mantic was like a year in review video with Ronny wearing a hilarious santa style outfit.

They are having a 12 days of Christmas thing. First day was new year new army offer

@evilstu it is only planned as a one-off so I don’t plan on printing a squadron.  Those seige engines look great, unfortunately I don’t play any games that would use them – must control my desire to print things…

@dawfydd that’s a good conversion job with those Primaris, I got a few copies of issue 1 and was thinking about how to make the differences, time to hit one of the many bits shops online, I don’t think I’ve got anything in my bits box for Primaris or Marines at the moment.

Managed to get the green stuff out last night and filled some of the holes and gaps in the Vyper, no photos yet I’m afraid, need to sand it down a little as well.

@mage looks like you had fun… but not actual fun.

I hope your evening time with your boy was great ?

@dawfydd looks like a good job of to me! Despite being mono pose, it looks like the current batch of GW plastics work together quite well to mix’n’match.

@horati0nosebl0wer wow! That’s gonna be a serious airship!

Wizkids eh? I’ve never played in the Dark Sun realm, so I’d never come across Thri-Kreen.

Did the minis go together well? Or are they single piece like the other DnD official minis going around?

@evilstu your siege engine prints are looking great from here!

Avatars of War minis are great, 5 Euro? That’s a steal! Urgh, frustrating when you miss out on stuff that way, I had a similar experience with KD a couple of years ago.

Haha! My Elves inspired you? Your 3D print shenanigans are inspiring me! One of the first things I’m planning on getting (after a new house) is a 3D printer ?

Off to paint said Elves now, it’s cool enough in the evening here that I can sit in comfort and paint with the window open and a ceiling fan running.

Just a short blurb before work

@rayzryr Yes… massive mini work in future. I’ll be busy amid all my projects. I’ll need to get my 2019 pledges done quick as I already have Minicrate items that will be delivered monthly. Definite motivation to complete work in a timely manner.

About printers I keep seeing this on YouTube. The resin printing might be the way to go to avoid much in the way if crap prints. Then again its far pricier than the spool fed stuff.

    Just after Xmas

To change things up a bit with more fun lying about that is about as difficult to navigate barefoot like a LEGO laden floor

Weird. My post vanished. The following arrived in the post today.

Try to say it without using ‘the voice’.

Also just been to my flgs to buy paint trays and the new water pot.

    It’s all go!

@jodain & @ rayzryr yeah, they are pretty versatile. To date I’ve only brought a 5-pack of the regular Intercessor squad and a 10-man Hellblaster kit. That leaves you so many spare bits for plentiful kit-bashing. Toss in the chapter-specific upgrade kits and the sky is the limit 🙂

Working on a Red Box Games Dark Elf Assassin. Had this one for a little while now…

    28mm true scale type mini…

Only really worked on the legs so far, the rest is just started.

    @dawfydd that’s good to know!

Right! Christmas is over, time for hobby!

I was very lucky to get an airbrush for Christmas and finally today I had a chance to fire it up for the first time..

My first project is to try and get some of the Silver Tower models done, since I’ve been trying to play through it with my partner and she moans that the blue horrors are not blue… Gonna go try and finish them off with the brush now!

@arkmechanicus congrats on the new airbrush! And sweet work on your Tzeentch gribblies so far. yeah I know where your partner is coming from – I hate painting with naked minis. I have a box of Zombicide Black Plague with all the KS extra stretch goals that I haven’t even attempted to learn as I have only painted one model so far…

@rayzryr great work so far. How are you finding the Red Box mini? I really like the look of their stuff – they would be great for characterful mass battle game heroes or representative D&D minis. I’m still stuck on a paint scheme for skin tone for drow/dark elves. think I’m going to trash the Elder Scrolls Dunmer approach and go with the approach in the vallejo malefic flesh paints set – If I do that then I can sort of have it match across narratives.

@dawfydd wow I’m surprised it’s taken so few ‘regular’ primaris complete kit purchases to provide so many conversion opportunities. I’d just assumed you were picking up standard squad kits fairly regularly (or paying an enterprising 13 year old to go dumpster diving behind your local GW store in the wee small hours of the morning 😛 )

@woldenspoons say it? I can’t even read it without hearing ‘the voice’ in my head 🙂

@horati0nosebl0wer I have no idea where you find these gems 🙂 had to do a double take when I heard the second track – the start sounded like a cover of Manson’s Beautiful People…

@jodain yeah I sort of went and printed all the things…  Now I need somewhere to store them 🙂 I need to take a block of time and get some printed terrain painted. Still need to work out how to approach painting printed terrain – I’ll need to modify the way I wash and drybrush due to the lines from stepping in the print. I don’t know, maybe starker edge highlighting could work? I do need to learn how to use pigment powders so that might be a nice opportunity. Seriously though, keen to see how the piece turns out. Anyhow, given from your posts I’m inferring your interests are more along the 40k/Kill Team/Legion side of things, I’ll just drop some links to fun stl’s here: 😉

    Thanks @evilstu!

Yeah, mostly I think the complaint is that we both spend 5 mins trying to figure out which model is which!

Good progress today I think, still got plenty to learn about the airbrush..

Have people been thinking about hobby resolutions for 2019 at all?

@woldenspoons Sweet deal on the minis. I’m glad that more stuff has arrived for you to slap with paint.

@dawfydd I can only look at wonder and wonder what kind of things you speak on within the 40k universe. Sometimes the whole game seems too big to get a handle on.

@rayzryr Good start on the skin tones. I’ll recommend a slight blue tint to the spots where the muscles lead into the fascia to get a subtle blend for shadow.

@arkmechanicus Sweet deal on the airbrush. The work you’ve tossed out looks pretty good. I’m dicking about with mine for priming and general basecoats with starting back into really touching up the blends. What brand and model of a brush are you the proud new owner of?

@evilstu Haha! You thought that was Manson? Well they do a cover of Personal Jesus as well.

@jodain  Some things to look at for STL files and maybe find stuff you’re interested in

Have had a few failed print jobs in a row so spent some time cleaning the printer today. Although personally I think it might be the ambient temperature at the moment rather than a printer fault… Have queued up another job for tonight so will see if tomorrow brings success or another likeness of Azathoth…

Also started kitbashing some Elven marines for my High elf Sea Patrol force – given how cranky these guys look with the Shadow warrior helms on I think I’ll just say that this is a sea patrol from Nagarythe and that way I can still sort of have a Nagarythe force as well as getting to muck about with some ships.

Off to the hardware store first thing tomorrow – apparently I am out of black primer :-/

@jodain FWIW I’ve used both those companies before and been happy with their files.

@arkmechanicus inspiring stuff! And you only *just* got an airbrush? Well it certainly didn’t take you too long to nail down an effective process 🙂

@horati0nosebl0wer of course they covered Manson. And this is clearly a cover of the Manson version and not the Depeche Mode original – the difference is all in the bass-line, and I can tell ;-P

So much painting to do. And no chance of getting anything sprayed.

My 40k opponent for today cancelled without telling me. So oh well.

Still work to do but won’t take long to finish
