I too am working right through this time of year, seeing as I’m one of Santa’s Helpers: I work at an electrical retailer and everyone wants these toys!

Lucky for me Christmas falls on a Tuesday this year which means I have my regular Sunday/ Monday weekend and then no work Tuesday, an actual long weekend for me!

I have my daughter until Monday afternoon, then she’ll spend Xmas day with her mum.

Hobby may be back on the Agenda later in the week, but probably not for the next few days.

No rest for the wicked I guess, huh? I have to go out today to get the majority of Christmas shopping done.

So I feel like I get where you’re coming from: this is my second Christmas after my wife and I seperated. This year my daughter will be spending Christmas Day with her mum. It’ll be strange and a little sad not to be with her on the actual day.

I have a similar arrangement with the weekends as well, but it starts Saturday evening until Sunday, so we don’t get to spend nearly as much time with each other as we’d like.

Money definitely helps, but time helps too.

Bit of hobby today – mucking about with greenstuff on some of the Midenheim cavalry and unpacking and repacking some high elves. Hey I said it was hobby not productive hobby 😛

Also apparently the chainmail pad from GSW was the 1mm version…

back to work tomorrow then seeing my family in the evening. Christmas will be with the GF’s family then a bit of downtime – might even progress as far as getting paint on something if it’s not too hot 🙂

@dawfydd ah man, you got the Noise Marine! I’m tempted to get one as well, but then if I do, I’ll have to do a whole squad around him. And then support.

Actually last night I started looking at that guy, then the add-on bits for other Noise Marines, which would mean I’d need a unit of Chaos Space Marines to use the bits with… then I was thinking of the new Chaos Space Marines from WHQ Blackstone Fortress… then I was looking at the new Rogue Trader and the other WHQ games, looking on discounter websites…

Then I was telling myself I don’t need any more minis right now!

My point is that this whole damn hobby is one big slippery slope! ?

The Knights are looking sweet. I’ve been playing Freeblade on my phone, and it’s really tempting me to get a Knight or two to add to my Dark Angels…

@onlyonepinman I feel like, as you point out, that the balance swung back towards the Heroes in Star Saga, after the difficulty in Dungeon Saga. I know when we’ve played DS our regular evil player has held back some times because he knows he can easily ruin our day.

Still alive. Not done any hobby so far. But since tomorrow is Christmas Eve we have a very exited young lady in our house. (Reason for that is: in Germany it is tradition to gift the presents (Bescherung) on the 24th at around 3 – 5 pm. So many parcels will be opened tomorrow. HAH! Take that @horati0nosebl0wer !

@rayzryr yeeah, I don’t plan to do a Chaos force, but between this and the Death Guard stuff that’s building up from Warhammer Conquest it’s getting awfully tempting….

And it was hard to say no to the Renegade box when they basically gave you a Knight for free 🙂 Admittedly I am working up the possibilities of adding Errant, Gallant, Preceptor, Valiant and Armiger-class Knights to make the ma force in their own right….

I just received my Bad Santa minis from Anvil industries so my Christmas project is to try and get them painted up before Christmas day and sneak them into my mum’s nativity scene! ?

@evilstu yeah,no more time limit.  What happens now, or what appears to happen, is that the Nexus Deck has event cards which are played straight away.  Near the bottom of the deck (and it’s always near the bottom)  there’s an event card that basically says “enemies incoming; the team is taking too long and reinforcements are on the way”.  At this point the overlord gets additional activations and the max points limit of reinforcements is increased.  However those extra activations are still very low quality minions for the most part.

The dice mechanic is also subtly different and it totally shits on low dice counts.  Whereas previously it was regular d6 and you compared the scores with higher dice beating lower dice, it’s now custom d6 with icons. There’s three icon types on each dice (blasts or Shields depending on the dice type), two faces with an outline, two faces with asolid icon and one face with an exclamation mark (this is a critical); the last face is blank. Any face with an icon is a success and for comparison the Exclamation Marks beat solid icons, solid icons beat outline icons – ties cancel out and favour the defender. This means that the exclamation mark is effectively a 6, the solid faces represent 4 and 5 and the outline icons represent 2 and 3. However where previously a 5 would beat a 4, that’s no longer the case as these two faces have the same priority – if you converted it regular D6 a 5 and a 4 are considered equal and so a 4 can now, in essence, beat a 5. It’s quite a subtle change but it seems to have made all the difference, especially when combined with the relatively small number of activations available and no mission time limit.

I saw Aquaman last night. It was brilliant. It’s the best movie made out of the DCEU. If your a fan of Games Workshops Idoneth Deepkin than this movie is for you.

Well Team, I won’t lie, that has felt like a long day. At work then did the Xmas thing with my family in the evening – just home and a bit of downtime before bed and the christmas day rituals commence.

@mage looking good. This is ht ebit where you quietly reassure me that GW do not manufacture a technical paint for goblin excrement, right?… Whoa best of luck with the long shifts. Drive safe and all that…

@dawfydd best laid plans and all.. I’m sure nobody sets out to do a chaos force – the chaos force just does you? Or something like that… The universe does tend to entropy so it seems logical that mini piles must also tend to Death guard? OK, none of this is even making sense to me… think I’ll just bail out here 🙂

@onlyonepinman hrm big changes then – can see the players being a lot more careful and strategic without the time imperative. Maybe some sort of errata or optional rules set in the near future then?
