As some of you know I have been busy painting a B&B warband in a project here but I have yet to play the game. While searching for content and playthroughs I was surprised that despite all the coverage on BoW that there is, as yet, no Let’s play.

I found this article by @brennon review of the game from April and I know that @oathsworn are now on BoW and there is plenty of interest in the game so can we expect to see a Let’s play?

Would there be any interest in a Let’s play from the community? Does anyone have any links to good playthroughs or articles?

I have watched the ones from The Battle Hammer here and here

We’re planning to do some ‘how to play’ videos ourselves – they were meant to be done last month, but other stuff keeps getting in the way… hopefully soon though!

Random aside @oathsworn as I’ve found you here… is there any possibility of there ever being a plastic kit for the range so maybe a box of mice, hares etc so punters could equip and mould their warbands how they see fit?

Dont get me wrong, i love your sculpts (I completely butchered undercoating the 4 I have last night), but I just wondered for a bit more customisation if there as something on the horizon…

Apologies if this is a sore pint/awkward question

@nogbadthebad Plastic moulds are hard to make good and are very expensiv. Perhaps some resin kits, because they are easier to do.

@nogbadthebad TBH I’m not expecting to ever be able to do plastics for B&B – we just don’t have the cash! The tooling for a  frame the size of a standard Perry set costs about £23000 from Renedra; we could potentially do a smaller frame for a single customisable mouse for about £12000. Now multiply that by the 40 or so species we’d need to cover!

Plastics really only work when you have lots of start-up money, and are expecting high sales. You need to sell thousands to recoup the initial investment, unfortunately.

So, unless I win the lottery, I don’t think plastics are a possibility – sorry!

    But I’ll keep dreaming! 🙂

How about only doing it for a handful of the species, mainly the big name ones?  Eg Mouse, Badger, Fox, etc.  It’s still a big investment, so understanderble if even that’s too costly.

Given the numbers that @oathsworn quote I doubt that it would be worth the financial risk. Just numbers wise they’d have to have 4 times the number of backers of their kickstarts to purchase it to just break even for the smaller option (at 10 bpd/sprue). And given the number of backers of their burrows and badgers kickstarters it would be unlikely that a kickstarter would bring enough cash to make plastics happen.

I personally love the miniatures that have been produced. I’d love to see a lets play though.

You have to sell 1000 frames for up to 12£ each, only to pay the tooling. And that is only for 1 frame of a mouse. @oatsworn have to make a living with the sales, so, let us say we pay 15£ (12+3£) they make 3000£ IF they sell 1000 frames.

You need a good backup, and I don´t think they will sell 1000 frames of one mouse. Burrows & Badgers is a fun game, but it is not a historical (Like Perrys) or a GW game. It has fans, but the risk is to high to do a plastic frame.

Honestly, I think the charm of the models and being in metal works great, I for one hope you don’t go plastic.

What I will certainly be interested in seeing is potentially some scenery in the works.

Pretty sure it would be a crime if @brennon wasn’t in the studio for any let’s play of B&B. It is something I would love to see!

If I am ever over in the studio during the next few months I will be bringing along my Burrows & Badgers so if I get some spare time I would gladly sit down and put together a Let’s Play demo scenario.

…will probably get some rules wrong haha, but that is the BoW way.

In terms of terrain and scenery, we’re (slowly) working on a few ideas here, and Sarissa are also looking at some mdf stuff for B&B too, which is cool…

@oathsworn and @jocke thanks for your replies. I get it and fully understand – the question was posed having recently read Redwall (missed it when I was a teenager somehow) and had visions of a grand Shrew army!

I’d love to say all the qliche phrases about spending to make etc but working in finance with that being said to me almost daily it seems at times, then yeah it’s not worth it for you – until the b&b massed combat game comes a reality!

@nogbadthebad the problem with ‘spending to make’ is that you have to have the money to spend in the first place. We’re a micro-business, and we don’t have 12 grand spare to invest for a single small frame, let alone half a million… I’m just happy when we can make the rent at the end of the month!

I suspect there’s a misconception about how large many miniatures businesses are; a lot of us are often working at minimum wage levels, and just doing because we love it. Well, we love it most of the time anyway. When a sculpt goes wrong, or a green gets moulded badly etc you do start to wonder…

I’ve been tempted by a massed battle game for B&B, but I’d probably go 10mm instead! 🙂
