    Damn it, @suetoniuspaullinus – your 28mm vehicles are awesome!  I’m working with my first 28mm vehicles, two LRDG trucks, and so far NOT DOING SO WELL!  🙁

    I wonder how big the armies are we’re going to get, because transporting them back home could be an issue.
    It’s about 1000 pts worth in 28mm/1:56 scale if I understand correctly.

    The FoW 4.0 bootcamp was all plastic and I didn’t have to worry about space.
    This one though … and with the adventures of @oriskany in mind it could be *eh* interesting.

    We may need to have labels : “Toy soldiers, not an actual German/British invasion force … ”

    I do have the A-case from a kickstarter, but the internal framework is (sheet)metal and I’ll need to carry tiny magnets to hold the troops in place.

    Try Vallejo Light Grey Wash (meant to be for grey tanks) it miraculously seems to make my desert tanks look good. Add a bit of chipping and highlights as well as some dust and Bob’s your uncle!

    I’ll give you a personal tutorial for speed painting BA tanks on Friday. They’ll all be done on Saturday! ??

    I think @suetoniuspaullinus should volunteer to do a video on John’s camera on an infantryman and a tank to reveal his secrets of painting. It will also give John a quick break too. 😉

    I second the motion, because that trick @suetoniuspaullinus shared with me about that light Vallejo grey wash …

    Just had a trip over to Warlord HQ to buy a couple of bits. They had the sprues for the new DAK and 8th Army figures for inspection in the shop. They are some really nice figures, 6 figures on each sprue, nice selection of section/platoon weapons and some interesting head options; Brit heads get regular tin helmet, Indian turbans and Tam O Shanters, weapons; x6 SMLE, x2 Brens, x2 Thompsons, x1 Boyes AT rifle, x1 2″ mortar and a Webley. DAK get helmets, feldmutz and pith helmets, x5 Kar 98k, x2 MP 40, x1 MG 36, x1 50mm mortar, x1 PzB 38 AT rifle and a Luger. Oh, and the officer head has a pair of sand goggles on his peaked cap, has a definite ‘foxy’ vibe…

    Really looking forward to getting my hands on some of these now.

    @oriskany

    glad to hear it did! It’s very subtle unlike most other washes that make the model look kinda dirty (in a messy way) and dark and require a lot of touching up.

    Concerning a demo session I’m open for anything but that’s all up to the guys. John is top dog over there, it’s his home turf. I just fine tuned myself to paint my minis fast over the last twenty years as having a family and working in the NHS didn’t leave much me-time. In any case I certainly will paint something at some stage and doing it together with you gentlemen will be a privilege ?

    @warzan I was wondering if the Beasts in their collection have a 28mm Lee?

    Would be fun on one of the evening sessions to try an refight the battle from the Film Sahara, both the Humphrey Bogart and Jim Belushi version being excellent and would be a good demo of the possibility of cinematic type games in historical settings.

    How does a real world paint scale down to ‘model’ size ?

    I kind of think the colours would look odd if we did have a perfect match, because you’re effectively looking at a colour from 56 times the distance of the real world (assuming 1:56 scale).

    That said … life would be so much easier if colour ranges for paints used RAL numbers all of the time.

    @oriskany very interesting!

    Though its funny how colours and washs etc give effects you dont expect, by accident found a dark sand overwashed with a sepia( khakiish wash) gives an excellent khaki uniform effecr with the 3 colour tone.

    Wanted to do a bit of a colour test on a mini so dug out this one. As the Boot Camp will need coverage I figured I would do a combat correspondant for the tabletop 🙂

    Correspondent for ‘Kriegsbestien’ or ‘Auf Der Tischplatte’ perhaps?
