Projects that don’t erase themselves with a failed upload would be great, a few times I’ve tried to do it, lost it all and just gave up and let the project die.

The coming soon links being live would also be cool.

I suppose not so much look and feel, but content wise, I would like to see more articles that follow up on things like Kickstarters – its nice to have an article about the launch of one etc. but can we then see how its gone?

Maybe some stories on what’s happening with major companies – OTT promoted so many Monolith and Mythic games stuff – so I would be nice to read a summation of something like a what went wrong with Mythic article.

I just think it would be more interesting and engaging rather than a lot of stuff feeling like just adverts.

Post mortems of kickstarters or companies would be interesting.

I think the biggest hurdle for that would be the need for a cloning machine so they can get more Ben to write things 😉

No AI generated news please … (I’ve seen some websites experiment with that sh!t)

To your point, I have no idea how many active users their are on the forum, but not everything would need to fall to Ben. I am sure we have a lot of capable people who would happily submit articles of interest – yeah there is then a bit of work to proof read and check those, but as this would be aimed at commenting on things that had happened in the hobby, it wouldn’t need to be super timely or anything.

    Just my thoughts.

Someone should really whip him in shape so that Rome can be build. Maybe we should send a couple of whips to someone close so they can whip him in a Rome building shape…..

Also, because it has plopped up in the Tech Support forum: have an easy way for people to delete their accounts. (That might even be legally mandatory right know, not sure on that)

@sundancer in the EU we do have a ‘right to be forgotten’ (I think it’s part of the GDPR), but AFAIK there is no rule how it has to be implemented, so technically a link to a support request page is enough.
Then there’s the business side of things (like anything related to subscriptions) that can’t be removed. One could probably argue the same about posts in a forum, which will be a technical challenge as well.

The concept is nice in theory, but there’s a lot of technical and legal limitations that make it difficult to execute.

    //

I’d say that once all the ‘coming soon’ items are removed (or completed) it will be easier to find the support link in the footer of the website.

    how about something like

    ‘Community Swan Song’

basically a piece where a member(s) of the community write a piece about a game they love(d) which is either dead, unsupported or no longer mainstream.

sure might not be current, on point or whatever for timely clicks or engagement but you never know… people might write something as free content for OTT. a common layout would be good, eg subtitles for everyone to address in a specific order, lets face it, only needs to be around 700 words and that’s not too onerous to do on a game (or past time) you love.

Here is something I just thought of a moment ago:

    Less corporate business minded shite.

What I mean with that is that since Beasts of War became OnTableTop a lot changed to become this new clean image. While before it was more gung-ho and we’ll just try this or we’ll just do this. It just felt more personal, more alive that way. The only thing we really get like that is Warren’s ramblings or Lloyd’s holiday snaps on the XLBS. I don’t even watch the front stage show any more, it just feels too scripted and too structured. Bring back the personality that Beasts of War had and do not turn it into a corporate grey sludge.

There are many channels that I just don’t watch any more because of it. Miniwargaming is an example of that.

I don’t mind the structure in the weekender, but I do miss the randomness of the good ol’ days at times.

Maybe a more free form variant of the weekender with a bit more ranting and raving about stuff once a month ?
It could be like a hobby hangout thing …

I think @amachan hit the nail on the head. Personality, the opinions, perspectives and enthusiasm of the team is what’s valuable here. Too scripted, formulaic or forced content makes me skip Weekender and at times XLBS more often.

I think phase 3 should be getting rid of those extreme close ups of the presenters on the weekender and XLBS
