@pagan8th if they wanted our money. but not the hassle they shouldn’t have told us there’d be “local shipping”
They should have told us we’d be paying 50+$ just to ship a small thing. We’d know what to expect and we could make our choice *before* pledging.
Now they set expectations they were unable to counter, which gives more negative feedback and a lousy customer experience.
They are now “on ze list”
June 26, 2024 at 6:04 pm #1884153I’m not saying it’s right @limburger… it’s wrong what they did…
As for “ze list”… you should see my “list”… come the revolution I’ll have to line them up against the Great Wall of China…
June 26, 2024 at 9:50 pm #1884161It feels like one step forward / two steps back.
They made a mistake, admitted they did it wrong, fixed it (sort of), but now we’re back to square one : crappy communication
it’s the last part that really annoys me the most at this time.
Most ‘world wide’ kickstarters tend to inform everyone about the status of shipping even if they have to say “no info” for most of them. That lets us know they are aware of folk outside of their regional bubble. With this one I feel like we’re constantly have to remind them that ‘rest of the world’ isn’t a dark scary place filled with dragons.

So gonna post that on kickstarter to see what happens 😉
July 4, 2024 at 8:42 pm #1884896They had another boo boo :
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cgl/battletech-mercenaries/posts/4141897
apparently they had too many vehicles in the ‘random’ salvage boxes.
You’d think they know how to do those salvage boxes by now … but nope.
And in the comments one of them is asking us what we need to know about RotW shipping. Like why do they even need to ask us?
July 5, 2024 at 5:43 am #1884898Hello backers!
Thanks to reddit user kahadin, it was brought to our attention last night that some Mercenaries Salvage boxes contain vehicles. Catlayst has confirmed this error.
Loren and Randall have been meeting with Liya, our manufcaturer in China, to identify how the error occured and how widespread it is. Then they had more meetings with Liya and our fullfilment agent QML to determine how to fix it, together. Out of the 300,000 Salvage Boxes manufactured 6,008 have vehicles. Liya has been onboard from the first call to help make things right – as such, they have committed to comping an extra Salvage Box to every order going out to keep shipping from stalling.
For those who have already received a shipment, or have a shipment already in the mail, we are working on the best way to correct this for you. Because of the holiday weekend, please give us some time to find the best way to do this in collaboration with Liya and QML.
On the small chance that anyone received TWO vehicles in the same shipment we will work with you individually to correct this mistake. We will post instructions next week so we can resolve this as efficiently as possible.
And NO WORD on RoW shipping. They will never learn.
July 5, 2024 at 9:50 am #1884923So the continued lack of, well, any update on ROW shipping is irksome, especially at this stage.
Regards the salvage box issue though I don’t lay this one at CGL as it seems like it was an error on the part of the factory and CGL are taking steps to both correct for those already affected and sticking an extra salvage box in everyone else’s orders as they get shipped to proactively counter the possibility of folks being amongst the affected orders. Honestly the bit I find distasteful is how some folks in the KS comments have jumped straight to inflamatory language against CGL, accusing this of being some form of malicious intent.July 5, 2024 at 9:56 am #1884924So the continued lack of, well, any update on ROW shipping is irksome, especially at this stage.
Yarp. Really make me feel bad for even backing in the first place :S

Agreed
Honestly the bit I find distasteful is how some folks in the KS comments have jumped straight to inflamatory language against CGL, accusing this of being some form of malicious intent.
Well, some are on edge and “never read the comments” as an advice for YouTube seems to be a valid form of advice to almost all comments. People are…. (insert favourite curse word)
July 5, 2024 at 2:28 pm #1884987July 5, 2024 at 4:25 pm #1885009Oh absolutely. Seeing that has made me glad that Monolith held onto Conan when the two companies parted ways.
And yet still nothing has matched the clusternuggets that was Palladium and Robotech RPG Tactics…..July 5, 2024 at 5:52 pm #1885011@buggeroff The same R6 Siege kickstarter that they’re telling me to buy because there is “limited stock” still available ?
I can’t imagine how annoying that must be for those that backed it …(if the game is as good as they claim then surely a re-print would be easy money … )

You can’t run a kickstarter with some *beeps* shouting “fraud” the moment delays happen or when things get to retail before backers get theirs. It is disgusting how entitled (some) folk have become.
@sundancer if you scroll through the comments underneath that update you’ll see one of their crew asking us what we’d like to know … which as I said is kind of absurd.
Even something as simple as “we asked the hubs for updates but haven’t got anything at this time ” would have been better than the complete radio silence.
July 5, 2024 at 9:52 pm #1885016Been catching up on this, the mix up with the salvage boxes seems like something that could easily happy with a project this big, looks like the spotted it and are correcting it in some way, does seem to have attracted the over the top reactionists though and some of the comments are utterly distasteful.
I will admit I also find the ROW updates irksome, absolutely baffles me that they are asking in the comments of their latest update what would people want to see for ROW updates, that must be a self answering question, the same information that they put out of US customers but for the ROW? I agree that is absurd.
If what I’ve see in comments about ROW shipping is correct then its as expected not even QML handling it, but perhaps GamesQuest who QML have subcontracted which does add further insult to injury for the inflated shipping costs as they usually offer closer to “local” shipping rates based on previous kickstarters ive had.
I’ve been fairly understanding of the many booboos that CLG have had with this kickstarter but the apparent lack of any interest in anything other than their US customer base is really leaving a poor impression, yes the ROW may be a small majority of the funds but at least show those backers the respect they deserve and at least acknowledge they exist, as limburger says, simply a “theres no update at this time” would be better than radio silience.
July 6, 2024 at 10:30 am #1885105Full ack there @jamescutts
July 6, 2024 at 12:14 pm #1885118Classis bait & switch by CGL. Promise local delivery hubs and then, when it comes time to actually ship the stuff, gaslight your backers and charge way over the top shipping to shore up your own profits.
However this should have come as no surprise after ‘porch gate’ 🙂
Suffice to say I will be happy to get my stuff (eventually) and then never have any further dealings with this company. Hopefully someone honest will come along and take over Battletech from them.
