From 9th to the 11th September 2021 AMG is going live on twitch with their own “mini convention”. I’m not expecting major reveals but one can dream. *cough* Epic Star Wars Legion *cough* Sadly the timetable is only a graphic so no search for words. You need to read 😉 Still I’m curious what things will be shown.

Hopefully we will get rebels and imperials in hard plastic after getting c-3po and r2-d2 they are so much nicer then the other minis.

I somehow don’t think we’ll see anything for either… if they release/tease/announce anything I guess it’ll be Clone Wars again…. but that’s just my grumpy gut

You are probably right. Thinking about I would also like a proper rule book that doesn’t involve me printing a ton of pages.

I’m torn on that. Yes having a nice book is nice but having problems and flaws addressed in a timely manner is also nice. Maybe once they feel the rules have reached a “finished” state we might get a book. But as long as they keep adding new keywords and features for every release the book will never be done.

Ture but you can say the same for every rulebook game system. Perhaps a print on demand for the living rules as they have a lot of the page design done. There is also something to be said for codex style rule books when they have gone through a release cycle. To cover the changes made on cards extra.

Technically SW:L has a printed rule book. That comes with the core box. What’s constantly changing is the Rules Reference book. It’s not that big, maybe they could to a print run once a year. Trouble then is as soon as new rules get published and are tournament legal you can basically bin the books.

Thinking of games like Battletech and Blood Bowl. Core rules have stay much the same for ever. Those are solid books. But SW:L isn’t old enough to have such a stable base.

My biggest fear would be AMG doing a complete rules overhaul :S

98 pages is quite long for rules reference when printed a few weeks ago. But mostly me just wanting shiney books for my shelfs not printed pages (don’t like lots of reading on computer). The rules rewrite is a worry as could explain stock clearance going on if new card stock is on the way.

I’ve only seen clearance on one store and I guess that’s just one not wanting to deal with supply issues any more.

Did they ever release a printer friendly version of the Legion rules? I collected a lot of the stuff early on but lost interest as the game seemed to be aimed only for competitive play. I can use the minis for Stargrave so no loss 🙂

Perhaps as well as their cocaine empire they have shares in printer ink!

@sundancer for a game that’s as old as Legion you’d think they would have reached a ‘finished’ state yonks ago.
Instead it is starting to feel like 40k / AoS where new exceptions get added at every release without a single one attempting to keep things balanced

When core troops need special rules then the system is flawed and possibly broken.
When new units still manage to introduce ‘special’ exceptions … one has to wonder if the core game was solid.

Such things would be visible if they had to print the rulebook and keep it up to date.
By making it a ‘living rulebook’ this sort of stuff is hidden from view. It also makes it impossible to play a game as it was at release or any fixed point in between.

    /end rant

I hope AMG can provide clarity on the state of Legion/Armada/Xwing but I doubt it.
Are there any units missing from the original trilogy era ?
Because it looks like the basics are there for both factions.
The clonewars era doesn’t feel complete as the droids are finally getting the tactical droid commander and a few specialist droid troops that were in the cartoon series. I’m not sure if any of the vehicles and tanks are needed, because they tend to feel too big in 28mm skirmish style games. You need ‘epic starwars’ for snowspeeders to be effective and useful IMHO
