So I have been playing with the tentative first steps of 3D Modeling and Sculpting.

I really quite liked zBrush but Brother Lloyd has convinced me to look more closely at blender as it has a number of elements that could make it a potential great piece of software for the studio in general.

Anyone here playing or working with it? I’d love to share some experiences and knowledge on this 🙂

I’m starting to play around with the sculpting side of Blender. I’m no expert in it but it does have some really good features. If I can offer any advise, or more likely some guy on youtube’s, I have a lot of bookmarked tutorials, just let me know.

I’m trying to relearn blender. I use to use it years ago but had stopped 3d modeling for awhile and now thanks to 3d printing trying to get back into it.

I have been learning blender for the past few weeks as well, the main issues(aside from the self inflicted…) I run into is the older tutorials on YouTube telling me that I have to use *this tool* that’s been renamed or replaced in 2.8, being in the wrong workspace and muscle memory trying to use keyboard shortcuts from tinkercad….

Also I made a model with about 3 million triangles and couldn’t work out why it wouldn’t move along with its rigging…

I’ve been playing with Blender to make simple game assets for Unity for a few months. It has a pretty steep learning curve so I went crazy and put a tenner on business expenses for a Udemy course; best investment ever! (I know honk they’re currently running a 9.99 special offer too if you scour the Facebooks). You can do quite a bit modifying primatives and Boolean operations, but things like the knife and loop cut tool are really handy too.

Its awkward at first but really worth sticking with.

Space bar is your friend. Sooooo many keyboard shortcuts. Don’t try to learn them all. Just hit space!

Space bar just starts the timeline for the video editor for me…

@cazboab that is the new default behavior for some reason but you can change it to search (the old default) in the settings. With 2.81 it actually gets you to pick the space bar behavior on first launch.
