at the end of my night shift I got a funny idea in my head: in one day paint 100 miniatures
that is my goal. It will be over two 12 hour periods today and tomorrow due to sleep and most of today being lost with me going to bed
the goal will
be to pant sis models to basecoat standard: no washes, hilights, super details or bases
lets see how I can go! I’ll start painting 4pm GMT ish
what wouldpwople like to see?
October 28, 2018 at 8:59 am #1293714@mage you crazy! ?
set them up: put 100 models on the table. See what you’ve got to contend with.
You’ll be a champion if you can do it! I’m ready to cheer you on!
October 28, 2018 at 9:31 am #1293742October 28, 2018 at 10:02 am #1293760That’s a great idea for a community challenge too. Not just ‘let’s paint together’ but ‘let’s have a weekend marathon of painting. Good luck!
October 28, 2018 at 3:33 pm #1294017Okay so 15:15 will be the official start point. I had amassed various models but settled with Lord of the Rings / Hobbit and some Star Wars barricades. They were the first things I grabbed, though I did grab several boxes and might try and stretch out the number to two hundred. Ill see.
Right now I have my painting area set up, models chosen, and have started priming. A bit of time will be eaten up when I stop to post updates, as well as eat, go to the bathroom and possible go on a date tonight to the movies, but I will see what I can do over 24 hours for now, rather than pause the clock here and there. Should be fun! Ill keep doing challenges like this, I think, leading up to Christmas. Some will be time based, some will be attempts to break previous records, do more minis, or the same amounts, so on and so forth.
I wrote down what I have on a piece of paper somewhere. It clocks in about 108 minis including:
8x Star Wars barricades (lets face it, Im the kind of guy who puts off doing terrain)
Thorin and Company with Radagast
A bucket load of Goblins
12 Warriors of Minas Tirith
15 ish Orcs
3 Orc Captains
The Goblin King
A mining cart
A boatI have a bunch of other stuff on standby.
The Goblins and Goblin King have just been sprayed with sandri dust. Im off to drybrush some orcs, paint some metal and skin, and so some washes. Ill try and do an updates on the hour every hour.
Theres an oddity, sunlight in Ireland this close to Halloween messing up the photo. Typial.
October 28, 2018 at 3:33 pm #1294018October 28, 2018 at 4:29 pm #1294084Hour 1:
********Okay so I put a coat of Bugmans Glow on the Warriors of Minas Tirith, one coat. Needs another.
I drybrushed one group of Orcs with Mournfang Brown and one group with Dark Flesh. One captain, converted, I drybrushed grey.
I washed the barriers with Blue Ink but not all of them, as they have no bases and I need to hold a part and thus not paint all of it. So, more blue ink there.
Perhaps I will do more than just basecoats today…
I did not get around to Thorin and company yet.
I did a Soft Tone wash on the boat and a Strong Tone on the mining cart.
On the plus side the day is beautiful for priming.
Hour 2:
********Time to get food and then go to the bathroom after, Sunday roast and all that.
Also, I am watching Bleach on Netflix. Love it. Fun getting back into it. That good old Nostalgia kick.
I did spray the Goblins a second time and they are pretty much done as far as priming is concerned.
Ill try and do the skin on Thorin and Company before the hour is up, that way all the models got some attention.
October 28, 2018 at 6:20 pm #1294164If anyone can do it it’s you @mage 🙂
Do you think you’d be going mad if all those models had been storm troopers ? 😉
btw : the image links all show a ‘we value your privacy/cookie’ banner link instead of actual images on my end.
clicking ‘accept’ and reloading the thread fixed it for all of them.
