Adding pictures to projects

I’m currently setting up my first project but i cant seem to get the pictures to not pixelate. Now this is probably down to me and I apologise if I have missed some instructions somewhere but i was wondering if there was a guide to what is the best size to use or something similar? It is probably going to be a relatively picture heavy project so would like to get it right.
