@rayzryr – they are really stunning. 500pts. Did you convert them? What are the guys with the twin-fist weapons…never seen those before? The weapons look like flamers(?)

You have achieved a very impressive and uniform colour fo rthe armour. Very cool. 100pts.

I do like the Marine drawing his sword. Is that an UM sword? It is very Roman(ish). I like it. I just noticed the knee pad too.

When you say about cleaning your brush between every mini…does that mean you highlight a whole mini without cleaning your brush once? Tell me I just got it wrong. I am sure there is a set of three Series 7 brushes lurking about that have never been used if you want them?

    @sundancer – you are right there! 100pts.

@robert – Now that is fu**ing horrible. 500pts. It really is…I love the belly!

If that side armour is from the PSC P-IV’s then I have nicked a few finger tips messing about with them. It does look very good though. 100pts.

Then I scrolled down and I was sort of right! Very tasty tanks. 100pts.

@woldenspoons – the cat sounds like Mowgli! Rufus is the same. Maybe it’s a ginger cat thing? The dog does look quite ‘foxy’.

@skiptotheend – better late than never! 100pts. I’m not going to ask, but he had better be worth it…

The buildings are stunning. 200pts. Do you have good rules for breaching?

Thanks about the buildings…all my own work!

‘Call of the Mountains’ is pretty good. 100pts.

Strange, I have been doing some enforced cleaning to my little corner. However, it does look very tidy.

I have seen to real horror show cover art over the years. Wacoshop used to push a few bands a long time ago and the covers were always bad. I have also seen some bad covers by other bands who should know better.

Jack the Ripper was one of the Royal family. Just out for a laugh.

durward street (whitechaple)-murder site of polly nichols

Polly Nichols was found here in 1888. That is what it looked like in 2007.

Pets and owners never look similar! DO they?

There is no way the shots that killed JFK came from that building or from that rifle or that shooter! You can go to the book depository now and they have a little bit set-up called the “snipers nest”. The window is not accessable for obvious reasons and it is totally accurate to that historic day…i.e., Oswald is not there!

As for you pictures, don’t turn up later and say the dog ate your homework! 100pts.

@unclejimmy thank you! The only conversion is to the bald sergeant. It was a head swap and a reposition of the pointing arm to get his pointer closer to where his stare was aiming.
The twin-fist guys are part of the new toys that came with the new generation Space Marines. Yeah, they’ve got twin power fists, with flamers mounted on them. The proper kit can build with Bolters on instead, and grenade packs that mount to their backs.
The Lieutenant drawing his sword is an UM miniature, I’ve done minimal conversion work on him. Took an UM logo off his backpack. Swapped his left pauldron to the right, which meant carving off the assembly keys. It’s an easy build kit for the new kids just picking up Citadel miniature building. I figured I’d just say this guy served with distinction alongside the UM’s and they awarded him and gave him a sword in honour.
ummm… depends what you mean? Roughly speaking I’ll do the 1st stage highlights and usually rinse ‘regularly’ as I go. The second/ final highlights I ‘ll get through each mini without rinsing, since they’re fine and small.
    Awww, more furry creatures!

The art on the D-Rok Oblivion cover is my inspiration for my Dark Angel colour choices. I know mine is a little brighter than that, but there it is.

I can’t help but imaging a DM using that final cover art to catch the players by surprise when their characters are brought before the Goblin King! Classic.

The D-Rok Oblivion sleeve is the cover to Space Marine 2nd edition I believe. When I was unemployed and living at home my brother and I used to play that all the time. We used to ban our little brother from coming in so we could save him but alas, a few hours into the games we would need a drink. When we looked up he was in the room staring wide eyed at the battle.

Abandon all hope he who enters here.

He’s older with a house, job, car, missus and kid and he’s a real nerd. I feel responsible.

Someone has been busy with their Conquest mag eh @rayzryr? However ignoring that they look bloody lovely. Exactly how I like chaos marines to look. @robert yes I did it too.

    Good Morning All!

Another day in paradise. Highs in the mid 20’s all week… and actual rain in the forecast. Another day of OT for me as well, but I do have my AD&D books along, and have some NPC’s to throw together for an upcoming game, so the day won’t be a total write-off.

I finished building my Baleful Realmgates last night, and will post a pic tonight or tomorrow. It’s a great kit, although grossly overpriced.

    @robert that Nurgle guy rocks!

Also, I like the damage on the schurzen. Where do you get the extra gear to bolt on to your Mk IV’s?

@skiptotheend I like that terrain. Is it for modern Middle Eastern gaming, or Infinity? Either way, looks like you’ll have some deadly overwatch positions.

@rayzryr Great colour scheme and highlighting on your space marines. What do you do for faces? They’re very well done.

Still waiting on my goodies from the Rampart Cathedral Kickstarter. They started shipping a while back, but it’s coming from Poland, so could be a while yet. I ordered a pile of the stuff that I couldn’t afford, but it’s sooooooo shiny:

@unclejimmy some great vintage GW stuff. that Goblin Cock pic is hilarious! Took me by surprise after all that wholesome GW imagery.

Brian May of Queen plays on two songs of that D-Rok album.  I’ll get back to the other questions later!

@unclejimmy Goblin Cock were really going for a niche part of the music marketplace! hahaha, my first glance at it and thought, why have they pierced a snake, my second look got me doing my best Quantum Leap impersonation “Oh boy…”

That D-Rok front cover is just awesome.

I think “Julie’s sixteenth birthday” is the best of a bad bunch.
The photo has an essence of brent taking a picture:

but also looks like a hostage situation going into stockholm syndrome.

    @unclejimmy don’t worry about me. I’m good 🙂

When I listened to radio there were only two stations that had interesting music :

    – Arrow Classic Rock ( https://www.arrow.nl/ )

    – Kink FM (no not that kind of kink, just lots of alternative music) : https://kink.nl/

The one thing I can’t handle is idiot dj’s blabbering about nonsense … especially early in the morning.
If you’ve got nothing interesting to say as a DJ then Sierra Tango Foxtrot Uniform …

GW may be expensive, but their plastic kits are the best in this part of the industry.
To get better you need to look at seriously expensive kits in the scale model range from the likes of Italeri and Revell.
I think Warlord have some of their plastic kit from Italeri.
I was looking at a 1:35 scale Tiger kit this weekend which had almost a 800 parts (which includes a full interior and engine).

    https://www.revell.de/en/products/modelmaking/military/vehicles-wwii/tiger-ii-ausf-b-full-interior-platinum-edition.html

The ‘normal’ version of that kit only has about 300 parts. I must say I was tempted, but I barely have time to build my ork kits as is.

@rayzryr -you put the arm to where he is looking? 1000pts. That is how you are supposed to do it! I suppose you can’t really do conversions anymore?

That is Mowgli passed out next to me. I would wake up to find him asleep on my back!

    @woldenspoons – I missed 2nd edition.

@ceppie – PSC models come with loads of add-ons. They are pretty awesome kits.

That was back during the late 80’s and early 90’s. Back the Wacoshop’s HQ was just outside the town centre and had an 8ft Marine outside and a giant Eagle. You could get into a taxi at the station and ask to go to the Reichstag and they would take you straight there. Back then you could ring Mail Order upto 2200hrs and talk to the Trolls.

I rang one night about 1930hrs to order something and I got chatting to the dude about what I was buying. Catachan snipers to wipe out Wraithguard/Lords. We spent two hours discussing if viral weapons would effect Wraithbone – as it is ‘alive’.

@robert – Brian May should have known better. Maybe they had some good beak?

I forget where I first saw that cover. It is rather shocking the first time you notice it. I also remember a band called ‘Tank’ that had some bad covers. I think that is what they were called. I better look.

Mr. Brent would have gone to the jail for that interview! Have you seen the David Brent movie?

    @limburger – I think Kink.fm is just the same as Kink.com. I know you weirdos…

DJ’s were great when I was younger. We had Sir Jimmy Savile! He introduced a generation of teenagers to Gary Glitter. The only one I ever listen to was John Peel. 2200hrs mon-fri and he played only weirdo/indie stuff. That is were I heard everything! My first Fall song was on John Peel.

He was a miserable looking/sounding sod, but he was in the room when Jack Ruby shot Lee-Harvey Oswald and played the first Joy Division song I ever heard. That is good enough for me. He is dead now.

There kits are not the best in that part of the industry. They have a monopoly and they control the price. It used to illegal in this country. There was a thing called the Monopolies Commission. However, there was only one of them! I will go even further and say that their kits are fast becoming nothing but childrens toys.

Italeri and Revell kits are not expensive at all. Not compared to what Wacoshop decide to give you.

Of course you can go mental with 1/35th kits. Interior detail, BE. PE, and additional bits are compulsory, but at least you get your monies worth.

I have spent most of the day shifting my junk about the place and trying to set-up my printer so it works without wires. Not much done, but i’ll have to make up for it tomorrow…

I will be messing about with bits while the Antipode’s leg dries properly. More scatter bits. We also have a game of Infinity planned for tomorrow afternoon.

that’s why Historicals are so cool … there’s no way for any single company to monopolize them.

Well … except for none of them ever agreeing on scale because those weirdos decided to express them as a unit of distance.
    Seriously … what the heck is 15, 20 or 28 mm ?
    Why not call it 1/76, 1/72, 1/56,  1/48, 1/35 or 1/32 instead ?
    Those make sense.
Even the model railroad scales like H0 make sense.

And yeah … 70 Euro for a 1/35 maximum detail Tiger is cheap.
If this was GW it’d be more like 7000 Euro and you’d have to pay extra for stowage and you still wouldn’t get anything remotely like this one

Games Workshop aren’t a monopoly, they operate in one of the most competitive markets out there.  The last CEO might have believed he ran a monopoly and tried to operate the company as if it was one, but look were that got him and the share price.  Also given that they have been struggling to keep certain product on the shelves in the recent past, I would argue that they don’t charge enough for these products but what would I know.  There are a few of their business practices that could be argued as being anti-competitive but I’d assume the law of the land allows it.

Monopolies are a wonderful thing to study, but they are very misunderstood.  Microsoft never charged the monopoly price for Windows, not anywhere close to it, and yet people moaned and groaned that they charged too much… did they fuck!  They did some other naughty things though but abusing their power through pricing was not one of them.

@rayzryr alphabetical by band name, then albums from each band in chronological order.  The only way to organise a music collection.

@unclejimmy and @ceppie those are actually Battlefront/Flames of War tanks, the metal gubbins are from a company that Lloyd from OTT mentioned on a Weekender show a month or two ago (I can’t remember the name at the moment) and the plastic bits (in grey) are from Plastic Soldier.

@unclejimmy I remember Tank – they released an album last year, it isn’t very good compared to their 80s output.  Filth Hounds of Hades is perhaps the album cover you are thinking off.  I have quite a few of there albums on vinyl.  Musically, they were decent – more in the Motorhead school of rock.  (He Fell in Love with a) Stormtrooper is probably their most familiar track!

Supposedly Brian May meet D-Rok in a Games Workshop store and they asked him if he wanted to play on the record.  May’s son was heavily into Warhammer.  I think it was Kev Adams who had the “honour” of showing May how to sculpt some Orks (they might have been vehicles for Epic) when he and his son turned up at the GW offices for a tour.  There are pictures of it in a very old White Dwarf.  Warhammer Records didn’t last long, but they did release a Saxon album.

John Peel was great, he championed Carcass, Napalm Death and Bolt Thrower – Games Workshop tried to sign Bolt Thrower to Warhammer Records after someone at the company heard them either on John Peel or Tommy Vance’s Friday Rock Show.  They signed with Earache instead but leased the artwork from GW.  That lease has lapsed and the version sold of Realm of Chaos has some nice new art!

Cheers @woldenspoons yeah I’ve been trying to keep ahead of the release of the magazine so that it doesn’t just end up on the Pile. But that means ignoring what’s already on the pile ?

Thanks @ceppie The faces? At the moment: Citadel Bugmans Glow, wash with Devlan Mud. Go over it again with Bugmans Glow, just as a Highlight. Then a second Highlight with old Citadel Bronzed Flesh. Just to catch the upper edges of the brow/nose/ cheeks etc.

That Rampart scenery is very tempting. It looks great. I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

@unclejimmy I could’ve put it pointing to the sky!

These minis are Easy Build/ single pose. But that doesn’t mean no conversions, though it’s trickier. I just wanted to get these guys done quickly.

    Cats are great that way.

@robert whew! That’s what I thought! So many people over the years have told me that’s weird… mind you they tended to be the “put it wherever” type… barbarians!

Great work on the Nurgly stuff too.

@limburger – I am totally with you on the scale thing. 200pts. Science has a codified way of measuring, railways are the same ‘gauge’ (yes, I do know there is more than one), but not with toy soldiers. Maybe it is a class thing? Modellers don’t want to be considered as people who just play with toy soldiers…that is for children!

Since I first saw one in Beaties model shop when I was 13 or 14 – I wanted the Tamiya King Tiger RC kit. It was too expensive for my pocket money back then and I almost bought one on my first xmas leave when I realised I has £800 more in my bank account than I thought! I got to the shop, went in, chatted to the guy, and left.

I even set off at 0800hrs in the morning to get it. I was in town before the shops were open so I got a bacon sanger in the shop over the road. I would have still had a good bit left and I intended to buy Heather an engagement ring. No sale. It’s strange when that happens.

A few years later my dad saw one for sale in his local newspaper for £150 (need a little work), but I just couldn’t be bothered. I spent 6 hours ‘shopping’ that day before I went to meet Heather from where she worked back then. Guess how much I spent? Less than a tenner…Buzzcocks album and I replaced my old copy of Misplaced Childhood. I met Heather and we went to a few shops and ended-up bimbling past the toy shop that used to be on our way to the bus stop. It was called ‘Josephs’ and run by a really old Jewish man and his family. It was massive too a real old style shop.

It was a traditional toy shop downstairs, but upstairs all tucked away in one corner, next to the Airfix kits, was RPG’s, board games, and a few sundries. Best thing was they would order you ANYTHING from their suppliers catalogue. They even had a GDW supplier!

Anyway, I bought ‘Dark Future’ and the original ‘Space Marine’ starter box. I took them back with me and we set-up a few games of Dark Future, but when I was away for 6 weeks training some fuck-trumpet stole it. They also helped themselves to a new pair of Reebok running shoes!

@robert – how are they not a monopoly? Even worse is the way they release models/rules so you have to buy stuff you don’t really need, but that Wacoshop can’t sell. Nobody can make products to compliment their ranges and if they do Wacoshop send in the lawyers! Apart form the ones in Hong Kong who are untouchable and used to make awesome copies.

They used to stop you from using any other companies paint/brushes in the stores.

I might have to have a look for that…interesting item.

That was the Tank cover I was thinking of! 100pts. Such a bad drawing! Derek used to like a band called ‘Stormtroopers of Death’.

It must have been TV’s show…Bolt Thrower were not really a Peel band. I do have some of their songs on my computer. ‘Anti-tank (long dead armour)’ is my favourite. Don’t hold that against me.

The purple Nurgling in the middle is excellent. Really striking. 200pts.

@rayzryr – SNF rules! My very first girlfriend was into all the Fame stuff and we had to go and see ‘Staying Alive’. At least you get to see Slyvester Stallone at the end. However, the last line of the movie is the best ever.

Puggies are fast asleep and I now have a hidden printer (that is still not wireless) and a clear floor. I also found some cool junk and some of the SotTR German troopers. I’ll take a picture later. Toast time.
