Happy Birthday Warren!!
Damn, I didn’t know it was @warzan ‘s birthday! Happy Birthday, sir! 😀 😀 😀
Happy day of birth Warzan. Another fab episode.
Happy Birthday Warren! 🙂
I think the historians and archeologists have been having a few second thoughts whether towns like Dublin ,Limerick etc were there before the Vikings arrived . Interestingly Armagh cathedral was raided more by the Irish than by the Vikings themselves
Armagh deserve everything they get. Speaking as a Down man
As an Armagh man, we probably do!
😉 admitting it is the first step
Happy birthday Warren. Catching me up.
Looking forward to some more dark age chat.
Happy Sunday 😀 . And many happy returns to @warzan , may the hobby gods bring many, many things for @johnlyons to paint 😉 . I’m currently working furiously away at a few Norse buildings for SAGA’s appearance at my flgc, as well as continuing work on my Vikings / Jomsvikings 😀 . The latter will be armed with Dane Axes aplenty for much raiding and pillaging. I’ve yet to try anything like Tales from the Loop, our last D&D outing fizzled out rather weakly 🙁 . I love going to Bovington, seeing all those tanks ( especially the Tigers,… Read more »
Happy birthday, @Warzan!
By the way, in Lion Rampant your turn doesn’t end if you fail a Wild Charge…
Missed that bit. But to be fair so did Lee and he’d read the rules as well. You live and learn eh?
Happy Sunday
I like the “push your luck” ideas on activations. How about a variant of rolling 2xd3. One is open and one hidden. Or both players roll a d3, the active player knows how much he has on one die and the push your luck element comes on the other. You could have a 2-part dice tower, one side with a hidden roll. Alternatively you could roll a d3, take your turn and the push your luck is discovered when you finish your turn and then roll the second d3. The question then is how to penalise excess retrospectively. There are… Read more »
Happy Birthday, happy Sunday 😎 😎
Happy Anniversary @warzan ! My Dad got married on Pearl Harbor day so he wouldn’t forget his anniversary. Mom was pretty pissed when she found out why he was so insistent on that date lol.
The art in Tales from the Loop is lurverly.
I suppose I should mention that found towers weren’t probably used for defence by monks as numerous of the towers had wooden steps leading up to them for which post holes have been discovered. They think the doors were built so high up was for stability in the actual building itself Also many of them are in pretty poor locations for defence or for spotting enemies approaching. They think now they were used as Belfries or as places of worship for Kings and Nobles
Interesting. I’ve not kept up with modern ideas on them to be honest. I leave that to my brother. So they functioned like hermitages without having to go to the middle of fuck nowhere?
If you think about it kind of logically if you set fire to the door the smoke goes up and starts to suffocate everyone inside
God another birthday for @warzan Didn’t we just do this last year?
Happy Birthday man.
happy sunday ! great show. More tanks John ! great ending !
oh and happy 41st birthday Warren
There is a very informative series of podcasts about History in Ireland called the Irish History Podcast (http://irishhistorypodcast.ie). Lots of info on the Vikings in Ireland – really worth a listen – especially if you have sat down to do some hobby.
I shall be looking them up presently
Happy birthday Warren!!!…I never had the thought that You and Lloyd were brothers!!…Nice surprice. Great ideas for creating a SAGA rule system with these randomize mechanics…on the the topic of just staying in the battleline and removing fatigue you could use midboard objectives that must be controlled for a victory pointgain pr turn they are held…which would force the players to push forward to grab or deny them. I would love to participate in such a multiplayer historical game…alas I need to get my own warband first. Normans look fantastic and I love the the bows and horsemen, but have… Read more »
give john a tank / military vehicle of the week slot ….say a couple hours long ….what a fantastic idea (will load up on burgers and beer in case it gets the green light ) …. 🙂
happy birthday warren
John plays with Jenny from the Block? Marvellous…
happy birthday warren!
now any way i can watch the full home tank movie with commentary … i know is not The Mighty Jingles doing the commentary but still i want to watch it
I’ll never be as good as Jingles 😛 He’s had years of practice, and far easier access to the museum than me
does it matter i want to watch it now if you can and have the time make a commentary of the TOG II..
Happy Birthday Warren and many, many more of ’em! When (haha) you get the chance, try some ‘Dragon Rampant’ Nice little twist on Lion Rampant with magic, mythical creatures and much more mayhem!
Great Lion Rampant report. I’ve yet to finish painting my first retinue but I’d thought it would be great for big battles like this. I’ve played a four player game at a show and it ran really smoothly. I’d love to do a six player Towton battle, but at the rate I’m painting Medieval Perry minis, it might have to be for the 600th anniversary.
super show as always, thanks guys 🙂
