The plucky Brits have a variety of armoured support at their disposal including, Shermans, Churchills, Stuarts, M10s, MG carriers and a Firefly.
If you want to see the starter forces in action be sure to check out our recent Flames Of War boot camp where we hosted building, painting, and playing of these new sets.
Which of the big four would you buy first?
I would get US or German.. or both
I have a British force from my Flames of War III days. But…….
I will be added some of this new stuff to my current Brits. (Maybe I’ll focus on an Irish Unit this time.)
I’d go for a German box…. and to them pink, violet and all naughty shades in between… 😉
Can we run a gofundme to help bring sundancer over for the next historical bootcamp?
You only want me to shout at everyone in German. Did I mention I did military service in the Bundeswehr and am able to do an equivalent of a drill Sargent? 😉
If you call everyone “a lovely boy” and shout “shut up” in a welsh accent, I will gladly add a £1 to the kitty!
*Pushes pile of money towards sundancer*
Oh wait I need bus fare
*pile of money halves*
I think you’ve found your idea for your next ‘some dude on the internet’ video 😀
Shouting at a mic isn’t the same… would probably sound awful too… Maybe I’ll do a selection of “bad puns” you get to hear in basic training and do a literal translation into English for shits and giggles.
There’s the heroic British and the rest is target practice…
Bit low on the infantry in this box, I’d say you’d need at least a company at a minimum with this number of AFVs/Arty. Not sure but I think you might actually be getting more gunner figures than basic infantry in this starter set. To me each of these starter sets should have a company of infantry in them at a minimum, but as we’ve seen many FoW players don’t like playing with infantry (that’s the problem when you have open/tourney style army lists) and often don’t bother with them at all. Plus Justin’s comment about Bren ammo being split… Read more »
I agree, I would also like to see a more combined arms approach to the big starter boxes. You could always have smaller all infantry/artillery/mechanized/armor upgrade boxes if you wanted to buy more specific items.
tanks are easier and more fun to paint so load up on tanks
…infantry added as you go
I agree that the infantry is a little light and I would be adding some more. I still think it’s another Great starter set for someone starting out with a Flames of War force.
I would defo add more infantry to this army. Maybe a few more Churchills. Wasps! Loads of them! All the Wasps! And maybe something like a Bofors for AA defence and if your opponent has no aircraft, more rounds for infantry pinning.
Just put this on my big 50 birthday wish list, it’ll give me a nice rounded force for what I already have. Plus I get three Churchill tanks to convert into Hobart funnies!!! ??
The 2 pounder was issued with a High Explosive round. However the charge in the HE round was so small it made it almost worthless in combat.
so how common was the universal carrier in the us forces?
Each of these boxes seem to contain more than the last
These box sets are great value, absolutely jam packed with goodies
