With the release of the new Soviet Starter Force this weekend for use in Flames Of War and Operation Bagration we also got a peek ahead at what Battlefront Miniatures has in store to support budding generals as they seek to strike back against the Axis.

In this set, you're going to get a massive selection of tanks and support vehicles as well as a host of infantry (woot!) and a bunch of guns to back them up. You can read into the specifics of the army by checking out our rundown of the set HERE.
In order to support this army, you'll also be able to get your hands on a selection of cards. Both a Soviet Command Cards pack and a Late-War Unit Cards Pack are available which will offer up a lot of options for army building and tweaking your force to have a specific focus and character to it.
Soviet World War II Missions & Campaigns
As well as the miniatures you'll also be able to check out some Missions and Campaign material. The first of these is the Bagration: River Assault Mission Terrain Pack.
Bagration: River Assault Mission Terrain Pack // Flames Of War
This set offers up a set of River Mats plus a selection of Unit Cards and the Mission/Rules Booklet which is tied to it. The idea of this set is to play out the assaults by the Soviet Red Army in Eastern Europe. During the campaign, they had to cross numerous rivers and battle against the Germans who had fortified them. With this set, you'll be able to play out those specific encounters to see just how easily you'll be able to ford these dangerous rivers and take back dug in defences.
You can also tie in a full Ace Campaign called Race To Minsk which brings together narrative elements and allows you to play out a linked series of battles on the tabletop.
Race To Minsk: Ace Campaign // Flames Of War
Within this pack, you'll get a set of different cards which help build the story and create valiant or tragic characters within your collection. This means that instead of just playing as notable characters from history you can also make your own heroes and villains and develop a cool alternative history for World War II and the Bagration operation.
Story Mode is the shortest of the campaigns which is packed with rewards and options as you battle whilst you can then dive in with an Extended Mode which offers up new ways for you to include players in your adventures on the tabletop. I think this sounds like an excellent way to play Flames Of War.
Are you going to be checking out these new options?
