Get Your Painting On Point With Colours Of War II
May 7, 2019 by brennon
If you're new to modern era wargaming and want some help when it comes to painting your tanks and infantry then Colours Of War II might be good for you. Check out this new book from Battlefront Miniatures, available soon.
Colours Of War II brings you a completely overhauled and revamped version of the book which focuses on showing off amazing paint schemes for a range of nations, vehicles and more from both World War II and World War II (Team Yankee).
As well as showing off an amazing series of different photographs exploring the different paint schemes open to you, you'll also find lots of tutorials on how you can bring these to life.
As well as going through the simple process of painting vehicles and such from base layers all the way through to super detailing you'll also find help on applying transfers, working out markings and such and of course focusing your army around a particular narrative.
This seems like a pretty solid buy for someone wanting to get their paint schemes on point for both eras of warfare.
Will you be snapping this up?

That’s going on my ‘wishlist’ … as in ‘I wish I had time to build & paint an army using this book as a reference’.
Might be good for an FoW newb like me!
The first one was great. Lots of basic techniques and simple instructions for each army.
Thanks @limburger . Do I need the first one, or is this a 2nd Edition of the same book?
I think the answer is : that depends … The original only covers WW2. The website mentions that they’re adding (almost?) all of the painting schemes they’ve released since that edition which covers mid-war WW2 (Italians are mentioned) and everything Team Yankee. Source : https://www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=6468 If you own any of the 4th edition FoW or Team Yankee books you already have the paint schemes. All this book does is put them in a single location and add a few basic tips. The best thing about the original is that it includes explanation about the various vehicle markings that the various… Read more »
just this one, the 1st ed was only WW2 and has been out of print for years.
I have the original version of this book and it’s great.
I’ll be adding this one to my shelf as an expanded source my 15mm armies.
I’ve always been a fan of the painting guides included in the FoW books
The first was quite good.
I’m wondering though, what’s so new and shiny about this that I should buy it?
IIRC the previous one only covered WW 2.
It looks like there’s Team Yankee in this one.
Ordered!!!!…. Missed the first edition, not Gonny happend now ?
Is this the latest one? The Battlefront website is incredibly hard to navigate and they usually show the other one with their own GW-like paint names. This is the one that has Vallejo colors right? Are they still doing their own paint range as well?
@wayniac Yes, this is the latest one. All Vallejo colours used in the book. I don’t think they are still doing their own paints. It is worth the money – though it does repeat a lot of what was in the last book, just with Vallejo paints referenced rather than their own.
Awesome. I just ordered it. Like I said their website is hard to figure out what’s current or old. But that’s good to know since I love using Vallejo.
Good stuff! Don’t forget to start a project and show off your stuff!
