Let’s Play: Flames Of War – Ghost Panzers VS Red Banner [Comment To Win]
January 9, 2019 by johnlyons
Freddy from Battlefront Miniatures joins John in the studio to try his hand at beating John in some Flames of War!
Someone has made a big mistake, however, as they've put John in command of the Ghost Panzers and a regiment of Tiger tanks and a pair of Ferdinand tank destroyers. As you might expect of our own tank maestro he puts them to devastating effect, but the T-34s on the Red Banner side of Freddy have a few aces up their sleeve.
Comment either Soviet or German for your chance to win either the Katyusha Guards or a Nebelwerfer Battery unit!
If you were to take a T-34 out on a romantic date what type of restaurant would you go to?
If FoW moves in to late war I hope to see the King Tiger available in plastic for Tanks.
Nebelwerfers; they werf nebels.
German! Midwar is the most interesting period for me.
In answer to the question posted under the last picture of this articales, “If you were to take a T-34 out on a romantic date what type of restaurant would you go to?”. It would be German wouldn’t it? Maybe some ‘wienerschnitzel’?
I like the mid-war era because you have a wide selection of tank choices and areas of the world to fight in. Just in Russia itself you have from Leningrad in the north to the plains of central Russian and the Fortress of the Crimea.
If a choice be made I would go German because I loved “Schürzen”.
Having witnessed the brutal effect of their initial barrage on the Soviets in this game and having watched the unboxing of the Ghost Panzers this week, I´m in for the “Nebelwerfer”. Had it not been sucessful, the barrage, Freddy could have performed his pincer movement as planned.
My romatic date with a T-34 would be at “St. John´s Inn & Brewery”.
Lovely, been looking forward to some more Flames of war games. V4 seems so much easier to play and we all love Nebelwerfers… Forward and on to Moscow and Neff ’em All
If I took a T-34 out on a date, romantic or otherwise…
I’d take it to work and let it have a blast… then go to the bank for some ‘All Gold’…
Stalan is right. Quantity has a quality of its own. John has too many nebs, give me some.
Russian god of war is artillery, if you forget that, you have a hard time winning. I load up with artillery and it’s a blast, none stop artillery barrages are incredibly effective. Take as many guns, rockets and mortors. The russian guns are really great for this.
Man, that is a tough call, but I’d have to go Soviet (if only because I don’t have any kind of Soviet artillery yet).
And I’d take the T-34 out for Tex-Mex. With how far around the globe the Soviet Union stretched, Tex-Mex was probably the only ethnicity of food they couldn’t get back in the day.
Got to be German for me of course!
As for a T-34 on a date, That would have to be to a WWII Tiger tank shooting range!
Nice fight!
German…I think this will be my first force for FoW.
Late war vs Germany is asymetrical warfare to a certain extent, but at least the Soviets had a bit of a response to the big cats. Not today, evidently.
Having gushed over the big cats, if I get lucky, Katyusha me please!
Soviet I am tired of Germans 😉 I would take the T-34 to a petrol station. On a side note, the game was interesting.
It is total normal for russians to have plenty of casualities. But they fight for their motherland. So they go on.
do want to get in to flames of war, probably germans
German. Be interested to know the points value for each side.
Send the German my way! Would love to see FOW For The Win 4 edition series!
Germany for sure, I can’t wait to get a copy of ghost panzers, as for where to take a t 34 for dinner, a steak house, it strikes me as a meat and potatoes tank and does not need more hen and chicks
Great Game. Always fun to watch Freddy and John fight it out. This was a close one, although i think that John played it abit safe ( were you pulling your punches ). I normally use my Ferdinands as a battering ram, simple and crude tactics but it opens the field to the vehicles and infantry behind. Although not that fast, i keep them moving as the enemy normally tries to manuevre to get a side shot, normally not maintaining their defense plan.
Love the game guys, thanks for explaining all the stuff. I dig flames of war. Always nice to have someone explain the rules.
“When you open stuff on Christmas morning”? You mean the content is as fresh as? Pah. 😉
The Kats are the cooler model, but I own small forces for the germans and the brits, not the russians so I think I’d prefer to win the German Nebelwerfer Battery unit please.
Surely the only restaurant you can take a T-34 to is a drive through?
looked like a fun game.
For a German, John seems to consistently eschew the concept of schwerpunkt.
Very good Let’s Play. For the Katyusha battery, let’s talk about T-34’s. Seeing how Putin just bought back 30 T-34’s from Laos, I believe we would go out for Oscietra Caviar on blinis. Maybe with a little creme fraiche. One quote I see for the fish eggs is for 30 grams (1.05 oz.) to serve 2 or 3 diners. Only $201 USD. But for 30 tanks and their host, $3350. But since we are in Russia, the price should be a be less – or we could catch our own fish with an HE round.
The restaurant would have to have a great bar so that we would both be tanked afterwards! Germans are preferred.
