Let’s Play: Flames Of War D-Day Campaign – Battle Of Cherbourg

Gerry is joined by Chris from Battlefront to play through a game from the Flames Of War Global D-Day Campaign.
In the second phase of the campaign the theatre of Cherbourg opened up and the guys are playing through one of the scenarios. Chris as the American force must storm the objective and hold one uncontested at the end of his player round. Gerry as the German forces must defend or contest the objectives for six turns which is a tall ask given the wave of American forces rolling his way.

Good game. I’ve been caught before by having a very forward objective that got quickly overrun. When playing length ways, as the defender, you can almost ignore the rear objective and place several units on the forward one. If the opponent goes for the rear objective, you should then be able to get some side armour shots and have time to fall back to contest it. You’d also hope that your reinforcements would have arrived by the time the opponent has covered the length of the battlefield. In this game, I would have been tempted to put the PaKs in… Read more »
