The Germans Go On Full Assault With New Flames Of War Releases
November 5, 2018 by brennon
Battlefront Miniatures are keeping up the releases for both the Soviets and now the Germans in Flames Of War as the battle for Stalingrad rages on. Starting off this time around we have the StuG (Early) Assault Gun Platoon.
This assault gun was designed to fight alongside infantry and was armed with a big gun capable of blasting apart defences. It was a very effective way of clearing out enemy infantry and some smaller armoured targets as well as being somewhere for your soldiers to hunker down if they need some cover.
If you're looking for a quicker way to send forward armour then there's also the Panzer II Light Tank Platoon.
During the early period of the war through to the mid-war, the Panzer II was one of the most numerous tanks on the battlefield. It was initially designed to be a training tank but as things hotted up the tank had to be rushed into service, performing admirably against their foes from the West.
Infantry Guns
If you would prefer to support the advance of your troops with soldiers rather than tanks then you can also get your hands on both the 7.5cm Infantry Gun Platoon...
...and the 15cm Infantry Gun Platoon. Both of these sets give you different options for taking on both armour and infantry that is threatening to charge your tightly controlled objectives.
I'm sure that a lot of players of Flames Of War have already got themselves lots of these units already but it's great that we're seeing Battlefront focus in on releases that are pertinent to a particular theatre of war.
Will you be picking up some of these new releases?

Those look good.
Great models the PIIs an gun’s will be good for the France battle’s.
Got some spare late Stugs to use in my Mid-War force… May need to get freative with the knife and greenstuff.
Otherwise some nice plastics in this release.
Great additions, especially the infantry guns. The 15,0 cm and especially 7,5 cm infantry guns shown here are exactly the kind of artillery the Germans should ACTUALLY HAVE on a 15mm or 28mm table – (in addition to mortars, of course) as opposed to big indirect howitzers that would shoot from 7, 10, or 15 miles away – or even worse – 88s. 🙁 We went over these guns at the Bolt Action boot camp, especially in the video below starting at about 9:30. https://www.beastsofwar.com/liveblogentry/scorpions-of-the-desert-support-weapons/ If I could wave a magic wand, every German player would have at least on… Read more »
Too true! Glad I’ve got mine painted up 😉
Really looking forward to the new books, it’ll give both the Germans and Soviets some cool new toys to play with!
It’s a shame that the Stugs are resin, but I get why Battlefront wouldn’t redo the existing plastic kit to accommodate all variants (although it could do with an upgrade).
