Forces Of War Army Builder Goes Live For Flames Of War
December 11, 2014 by brennon
Flames of War and Battlefront have launched their army building platform online called Forces of War. If you're looking for a way to make your armies away from the mountain of rulebooks then this should help! They also included a tutorial on How to Use the program as well...
It all looks fairly intuitive and although I don't have a great knowledge of Flames of War I'm sure veterans are going to enjoy this as an alternative to their books. Some particular listings are indeed locked away and you'll have to pay for them (see the second image above) but they are relatively cheap according to the how to guide.
I find these kind of list builders helpful when I'm making card decks and obviously they're good for making up armies on the go. I don't imagine it's going to totally replace people and their rulebooks but a nice helpful little web app indeed.
Will you be using it?
not keen on having to pay to unlock company lists, wouldnt mind so much if I hadn’t bought the books but no not keen at all.
Arent the briefings only $1? or am i misunderstanding ?
Yes I think it’s $1 according to the how to guide I read through.
BoW Ben
They may only be 1$ per company but if I already own the book I wouldnt fancy having to pay out again, even if it is just a dollar. However from looking at the layout of the lists on the website, if the company you want has morale and quality versions, ie confident/regular and confident vet, its looking like you pay 1$ for the confident/regular and a separate 1$ for the confident vet versions, which are effectively the exact same list bar slight point differences. It goes even further when in the bridge of remagen book there are 4 different… Read more »
If you’d actually read the “how to use” page, it’s explained that briefings with multiple country/division options are purchased as a single item, just separated for ease of army building.
Tbh I stopped reading at “BUY NOW”.
Created an account to see and test what you get when you buy a breifing.
taking the aforementioned German heavy tank hunter list, the 2 Confident/Veteran (c and R company) come as a single purchase, and the 2 Reluctant/Trained (1 and 2), come as a single purchase but between the 2 rating they are indeed 2 seperate purchases.
Yes, The briefings for Schewere Panzerjäger companies from the 512th and 654th Schwere Panzerjäger Abteilungs are different briefings (in different places) with almost completely different force options (different core vehicles, different support) in the book, so they are distinct options in the app. They are not variations on the same briefing.
In other words, the “list” you are talking about are actually 2 clearly distinct briefings, detailing completely different units both assigned to the heavy anti-tank role, which is why the names are similar.
RTFM 🙂
I’ll pass. Not enough bang for the buck.
Really BF! How much more of my money do you want! Not impressed with this decision at all.
Can see why those with lots of books don’t want to pay again, but for those like me with only a few makes this app worth while to pick lists that appeal without the outlay for a whole book if we don’t want to use some lists in one or more of the books. Good business sense as well and they are a business after all so still need retail return.
