Flames Of War Germans Strike Back With Jagdpanthers & More!
February 12, 2015 by brennon
The folks at Battlefront have bought forth more German reinforcements for Flames of War. Not only are they rolling out the armour with the Panther/Jagdpanther Platoon but also the combined mechanised might of the Sd Kfz 251 Transport Platoon and the Panzersturm Platoon too...
These were some powerful tanks and well loved by the Germans. The sloped armour on the front of the Jadgpanther for example is enough to reflect even the most deadly guns. As well as the big guns they also have some added machine gun support making these quite the deadly force on the battlefield.
By comparison these small Half-Tracks probably don't look like much but they were incredibly helpful in fielding soldiers around the battlefield. Assault infantry would gather up inside these and hit locations with deadly force. Mobility, firepower and speed make these perfect for getting troops across enemy held lands.
If you're looking for some deadly soldiers to join you in your mechanised assault on the enemy base then this Panzersturm Platoon could be the set of soldiers for you. These chaps worked well with the Half-Tracks as they would get close and provide covering fire as the soldiers jumped out and stormed the enemy position. If there was enemy armour they also had the panzerfaust to deal with that too.
Some pretty deadly Germans and two of the sets in plastic. Not a bad haul!

These are welcome plastic kits to everyone who plays Germans in FoW.
Something about Panthers and Jagdpanthers always gets me. The fact that BF / FoW is making these . . . and out of plastic, no less . . . is awesome. @brennon says – “By comparison these small half-tracks probably don’t look like much but they were incredibly helpful in fielding soldiers around the battlefield.” Amen to that. Infantry aren’t worth a damn if they can’t get to the point of contact with mechanized speed. Trucks are too vulnerable and usually have terrible cross-country mobility. And tank riders almost always take hideous losses along the way because they’re all clumped… Read more »
The Panther/Jagdpanther kit is probably the most clever thing BF have brought out to date. The 251’s are nice – I like having the engineer option on there.
I love anything Jagdpanther, and those look especially awesome.
Oriskany’s post has me wondering if there’s a 15mm (or 28) piece for the Kangaroo.
Indeed there is from Flames of War – and you get two in a box. 😀

Is that an M-2 MG up there? I think the Panzer Leader counters I used a ways back could be up-gunned to an AF of 2 instead of 1.
Looks like it. 😀
Very nice, good to see Battlefront continue with their plastic releases, and provide some competition to PSC! 🙂
that’s a nice option to have tank & antitank in one box the halftracks are good as well.
Been waiting for these to complete my list – picked up NachtJager last week and these look awesome backup!
Always liked Flames of War and now the plastics are more readily available I foresee a couple of armies in my future.
Plastics are much more affordable than their previous mish-mash of materials; but still a bit pricey – £26 for 4×251/1D compared to Plastic Soldier Company’s 5x for £20 (with flexibility from conversion kit). This soon adds up when building a decent force.
I’m also reliably informed the BF plastics are now much better quality than what I got in the OpenFire box; it had warped tank-tops (and I don;t mean in a psychedelic 70s pastiche fashion) that didn’t sit properly on the chassis.
