British Armour In Plastic & A Themed German Force For Flames Of War

May 3, 2018 by brennon

The team at Battlefront has shown off what's coming to Flames Of War for May. The first three sets are additional British reinforcements in plastic beginning with the Sherman Armoured Troop.

Sherman Armoured Troop - Flames Of War

As the evolution of the Grant tank, the Sherman would be seen as one of the iconic tanks of World War II. It came with a hefty 75mm gun on the top that could punch it's way through the armour of enemy tanks and sported heavier armour itself too.

Following on from the Sherman's we have some more heavy tanks in the form of the Churchill Armoured Troop.

Many of the versions of the Churchill to be seen in the desert were Churchill III tanks but you would also see Churchill I tanks fighting as close support vehicles. The III came with a big 57mm gun on the top and the hull mounted machine gun. You can see the older style of the vehicle in its design, but it was no less effective for it.

Air Support

Watching over your tanks from above we also have the Kittyhawk Fighter-Bomber Flight. This set is a mix of both resin and plastic and shows you the lend-lease version of the American P-40 Fighter.

They were very effective air support and were known to be able to land their bombs with precision, disrupting enemy forces on the move. If the opportunity arose they also came equipped with machine guns for strafing enemy infantry.

Themed Formation

Another of the releases for this month sees this Themed Formation for your German army. Here we have the 90th Light Africa Division set.

90th Light Africa Division - Flames Of War

This set allows you to bring a range of large artillery to the tabletop, captured from the Soviets. The German engineers tinkered with them to make them all the more dangerous and even started mounting some of the guns on trucks as you'll see here to create what was known as the Diana.

Will you be snapping any of these sets up?
