The Romanians are coming to Battlefront Miniatures' Flames Of War for those that want to dive back into their 15mm World War II wargaming. Brave Romania is the book that leads the way and takes a dive into more Historical wargaming goodness.

This particular book follows the Romanians in 1941 after they joined the war against the Soviet Union. Two armies were committed to regaining the lost north-eastern province of Bessarabia and there was fighting in Odessa, along the Dnepr River and into the Crimea. In the end, they were used to defend the flanks of the German forces that were fighting for Stalingrad and were eventually hit by a Soviet counter-offensive in November 1942.
One of the neat rules added into the mix for the Romanians is the Peasant Army rule. Before a game, you can roll a special dice and if you get a five or six your unit gets improved Motivation and Skill ratings for your troops. Pretty nifty. If you want to get more information on the Romanians that you'll be taking to the tabletop you can see their article HERE.
New Flames Of War Miniatures
As well as the new book, you can also get some new units from the folks at Battlefront Miniatures.
Romanian Rifle Platoon // Flames Of War
The first of these is the core of your force, the Rifle Platoons. As an elite motorised infantry option, these were great for holding positions that were taken by tanks. They are also focused on hunting down Soviet anti-tank guns and taking them out before they can get a bead on the Romanian ones.
You can also pick up some support weapons with HMGs and Mortars.
ZB53 Machine-Gun Platoon // Flames Of War
81mm & 120mm Mortar Platoons // Flames Of War
As is the way with these weapons, they are good for pinning people down and flushing them out of cover. As your core infantry units push up the battlefield you can use these support weapons to watch over them and keep the Soviet forces at bay.
There is also a new Romanian Direct Only selection that you can choose from over on their website right now.
Romanian Direct Range // Flames Of War
This comes with cavalry (woot!), artillery pieces and some select tanks. If you're looking to control the Romanians then this seems like a pretty good way to get them started.
Could you be tempted to put together a Romanian force for use in Flames Of War?

A great looking starter for the Romanian force’s.
Great addition to flames of war, I love that final image with the cavalry!
