The Air Support Swoops Into Battle For Battlefront’s Team Yankee
October 12, 2015 by brennon
Breakthrough Assault keep us updated about Team Yankee once again with a fantastic look at the cards for two air support options dropping into the game. Here we get a look at the A-10 Warthog and the MI-24 HIND for the Americans and Soviets respectively...
"Warthog? It's More Of A Puma..."
If anyone gets that joke then I will give the a thousand internet cookies. Anyway, on with the preview. Here we have both sides of the A-10 Warthog Stat Card where you have all of the weapons on one side and the special rules on the other.
It has rules for being a strike aircraft, popping up on a very generous 4+ and it can hunt down helicopters which is rather useful considering what the Soviets are bringing into battle. I love that it's also employing technology like guided missiles.
HIND Time
The Soviets are of course not going to be left out and they have a rather iconic vehicle coming to the battlefield. The HIND has appeared in so many films and video games I think it's instantly recognisable. It is also armed to the teeth with missiles, a gatling gun and a rocket launcher.
Of course as well as being able to fire on enemies from on high it also has the ability to transport troops. Two Infantry Teams can ride with the HIND so you could potentially use this as a way of getting to objectives with specialist teams ready to hold out against an assault.
You have to hope that with that one shot rocket launcher it also won't be a dud when you fire it!
What are your thoughts; American or Soviet?

Who doesn’t love a good air assault?! Hopefully in the future we’ll see platforms such as the Mi-8 Hip and CH-47 Chinook for a dedicated troop lift role.
And remember, if you’re playing as the Americans and you get your A-10 in for a turn then you must sing this as loud as you can..

…good one!
If anyone doesn’t get that joke then they should set aside a weekend to watch Red vs Blue. Well worth the time.
Kudos 😉
Both of those look good.
Though I think I would go with Russian given the option I have always has a soft spot for Warthog Airlines
Sweet!
I can’t choose, Warthog or Hind…..ahhh who am I kidding if I do Team Yankee ill end up with both…..
These are pretty interesting. Note that they way aircraft work in TY is very different from how they roll in Flames of War. I can confirm the models are excellent as well; I saw them in person at Spiel Essen this weekend. They also had a whole bunch of unit cards and a preview copy of the rules there. After taking a look at those, I’m confident this is going to be an excellent game. It’s still a modified (a bit streamlined but not dumbed-down) version of Flames of War, which can be a bit of a turn-off for some… Read more »
Cheers for the feedback its good to know, I was on the fence about TY for a bit but the minis look good, just depends on if any of my gaming group decide to pick some stuff up
well is this well timed or what.
nice looking models.
Who doesn’t love the idea of sending in the A-10’s! Then again, heliborne assault by soviet forces…too tempting. Both sides have such lovely models.
Looking forward to seeing the boot-camp weekend.
I too am looking forward to tuning into the live blog for the boot camp weekend, sure looks like its gonna be a good one. Really looking forward to seeing the table setups sure hope we have some vlogs in the run up
I’m drooling at the chance of putting a company of six hinds on the table, combine that with AT infantry squads dropped of all over the place and it makes the battlefield a nasty place to be a tankie!
…it always was back then!
Red blooded American but holy crap am I going to play the USSR with Hinds.
I am not sure I like the look of Hinds. … But that A10 Love it!
Did I mention that I have signed up for the bootcamp as an US player so it might just colour my view of them 😉
I look forward to see both in action
…you play Wagner and i’ll cross my fingers!
