Build Your 28mm Plastic Samurai Armies With FireForge Games
October 10, 2023 by brennon
FireForge Games have added their new 28mm Plastic Samurai to their webstore for you to scoop up as you start building feudal (and feuding!) armies. There are five boxes for you to pick up covering Samurai and Ashigaru.
Samurai Warriors // FireForge Games
The first of these sets comes with many bits and pieces for you to build twenty-four Samurai Warriors. They can be armed with Yari, Naginata or Katana and come in a variety of different poses. There are plenty of options for you to play around with and you could even use this to build some characters if you liked as well to lead your army.
Samurai Miniatures // FireForge Games
Sticking with Samurai, two additional sets of plastic miniatures cover these more elite warriors in your army. The Samurai Shooters set comes with options for you to arm your Samurai with either Yumi or Teppo.

Again, there are twenty-four of the miniatures for you to build and they are posed in lots of different ways. You can have them reloading, aiming and firing their weapons, be they bow or gun. That way, you can either move your army towards the time of the Samurai where gunpowder was prevalent or you can just take them back to using bows if you prefer.
Lastly, for the Samurai side of things at least, we have the Mounted Samurai who are going to be charging into battle and causing all sorts of chaos as they smash through the enemy lines.

This set comes with twelve miniatures which can be armed with Yumi, Yari or Katana. The poses are good, showcasing these cavalry miniatures in the heart of the action so you can make some dynamic units. No trotting along with this set!
Moving from the Samurai to the Ashigaru, you can get two plastic sets that provide you with miniatures for your Warriors and your Shooters.
Ashigaru Warriors // FireForge Games
These are going to be the core of your force on the tabletop. You'll use these miniatures to anchor your enemy and then use the Samurai to swoop in and send the enemy packing. Much like with the other infantry sets, this one comes with twenty-four miniatures that can be armed with the Yari or the Naginata.
Last but not least, we have the Ashigaru Shooters who come armed with Yumi or Teppo for taking potshots at the enemy.

What seems good about the plastic sprues that you get in these sets is that they don't seem massively complicated which is handy when you're building armies! You can see an example of the Ashigaru Shooters Sprue below...

Bodies slot onto the top of the legs with plenty of options for heads, arms and any additional accessories you might want to jazz up your miniatures. The way the bodies have been designed means you can tweak and tinker with them in different ways to give you quite dynamic miniatures. You'll obviously be a bit limited when it comes to how you pose your miniatures when it comes to your weapons but it should work even better with your melee troops.
Will you be picking up these Samurai and Ashigaru?

Will o be picking these up? Most definitely.
These look so much better than the godawful Warlord ones
Its a pity that they are out of stock on the website to purchase. Hopefully they will be in stock soon. I have been trying to find a review of the models as someone mentioned ontabletop before that the scale is pretty small. Warlord ones also have this issue that they are much smalled scale than steel fist ones.
On that note sadly the chap from steel fist is off sick at the moment and closed the store. I do hope he is doing better now 🙁
