Fenris’ Rat King Rises To Rule Vermin Kind
July 5, 2016 by dracs
For their latest sculpt, Fenris Games have taken a note from Germanic folklore and recreated the incredibly rare collective known as the Rat King.
Rat Kings are incredibly rare phenomena, so rare that many consider them to be semi-mythical. They are rats that have had their tails twined together until they cannot escape and form a single, collective creature. Folklore says that these creatures were bad omens of disaster and disease, while in plenty of pop-culture renditions they have been given a level of power over their fellow vermin.
Fenris' Rat King has been designed to sit as an insert for a 50mm base. This makes it a particularly large set of rodents for your heroes to face. Rat Kings have always had a certain fascination for me and I think that this model would be the perfect way to spice up the usual rat encounter.
What would you do if you came face to face with Fenris' Rat King?

Or a mount for a Skaven hero …. Nice
Ratkin mount, maybe. I like the idea but I don’t think the sculpt is quite right on the details though. The muzzle is too rounded and the ears are set a little low on the sides of the head. I’m looking at real rats now, they agree.
