It’s the XLBS SHow……Happy Sunday fellow CoGs! Welcome back @dignity Love the Narn Fleet! I’m jealous that I don’t own that many! Go @lloyd go build that Imperial Guard Army! I’m planning to do some IG also, ‘Vostroyan Firstborn’ but in RED, for the ‘Spring Cleaning Challange’. Oh, and since you’ve borrowed my Bearskin hats that I’ve been planning to use, I’ve jumped out and ordered two of the BFG guns that you pointed out. 🙂 They should be here by the end of the week. Thanks for the idea. BTW my Vostroyan will just be for 40k. Well done… Read more »
Happy Sunday !!! Lloyd has nothing but my total admiration for his project. I would find the amount of troops in an IG army daunting and I don’t paint tanks well. Well done though mate and I wish you success.
Happy Sunday!
Happy Sunday!
Why the clickbait style title? It’s not like we’re not going to watch it anyway even if you called it “Lloyd shows 153 pictures of his test group of Imperial Guard.”
That’s a ‘pin-wash’? Slip-slopping the wash over a varnish?
I must have been doing it wrong all these years; There was me thinking it meant applying the wash carefully to recesses with pin-point accuracy. 😉
it means leaving it in an specific place, it comes down to how much clean up you can be arsed to do.
To scale modellers that’s just a wash. So sod the origin of the name which referred to the careful, precise application of a wash using a fine applicator, such as a pin?
yes sod them, pretentious arses.
🙂
Happy Sunday great to see Justin on the show ?nice work on the dystopian fleets look forward to the video. For someone lacking motivation that’s great work Ben agree with Gerry great colour choice really pops. Lovely spaceships, I’m also tempted by Billion Suns just so I can up my orders to brigade models.
@lloyd I’ve just purchased some AK Interactive Ultra Matt varnish. Looking forward to giving this a buzz!
I went off AK Interactive after the whole mess of that book and the marketing that came out with last year.
Personally I dont care how good their products are and the few I had were good, I wont be buying from them again.
Now to be fair the last order I made with Victoria Minis came through the post with nary a scratch (and a huge bunch of spare heads & arms as they sent me the alternates I requested as well as the bits the squads came with stock). The biggest ouch was the Customs charge when it arrived >_< And I should say I do have one of those Sledgehammers – Ben is correct that the crew that come in the box are made out of Reaper Bones and the artillery piece itself is hard plastic. Goes together REALLY nicely. Still… Read more »
Hi COGz & XLBSers.
Great work on the models guy’s.
I all about the bass Lloyd

There’s a person who has glued the bowls of two plastic spoons together which I thought looked great
The Russians only took a small order of Adrian helmets from the French in 1916 for military trials. The Tzar said no more should be ordered as the diminished the martial appearance of the troops
they bought 2 million of them and they were used by the Red Army after they took over. The Tsar reversed his decision in late ’15/early 16
Be fair – in Russian Army terms 2 million probably was “a small order”
I checked a couple of history sites on ww1 and they say 15000. Could be they ordered 2 million but they seem 15000 showed up
here’s the full details from a restoration company. Some even fought for the French and got additional equipment abroad. Fascinating read, if I cared about WWI I could even be tempted to do something around this https://alexanderandsonsrestorations.com/tsars-french-helmet-imperial-russian-adrian/
lol, I’ve read this already 🙂
I’m getting WAY more into WW1 and then on into the Russian Civil wars, fascinating.

Will check it out 🙂
Very nice indeed.
Ah the Imperial Guard
When men were real men, women were real women and big fluffy pink aliens from alpha centauri were still big fluffy pink creatures from alpha centauri.
at he’s not doing Astra Militarum 😉
Happy Sunday peeps. There is a different energy with Justin on the show. Don’t care for it. Having to go back and watch last weeks again.
Nice work on your hobby guys
“Carcinogenic” – your sign of quality!
nom nom nom
Happpy Sunday GoGs!
Looking forward to @lloyd showing off 2000 photos of his first IG squad.
Welcome to the Guard, Lloyd. We have tanks!
I have a box of les grognards and may do a second regiment with them. Need to finish the Cadians first
Idea for Lloyd – with the red trim you put on the coats and hats, how about doing that in a different colour for each platoon? It should be a simple way of differentiating platoons while still having them look uniform overall if you keep the coats similarish. If you stick with the Soviet star as the Company’s heraldry, you could even do each point a different colour on the Company standard, denoting the five platoons that make up the company (using ‘platoon’ loosely here rather than its actual definition, as depending on how you build the army you could,… Read more »
I’ve been like Ben recently flitting from one unfinished miniature to another. I now have about 10 half finished miniatures.
keep that up, I have maintained for decades that I will hit a point when I will suddenly have a flood of completed miniatures
I managed to get them finished over the weekend and then started 4 new ones all of which are now half painted.
@lloyd Another company I’ve come across recently for alternative Guard kitbashing is Pig Iron Productions. They have a fairly large range of head options, including some winter Russian inspired versions.

I’d chip in 50 quid for charity if Justin grew a Centauri crest.
I was working on Dust stuff while this was on, and got all the greens done on the pair of British APC’s I’m doing up for my Armoured Infantry Platoon.
