One advantage to not being able to get to sleep – getting to watch XLBS as soon as it goes live. 😉
Happy sunday
And to you. 🙂
On the three scenarios, I’d rank them as Immortality, then Dyson Sphere, then FTL. My think is that as Warren says , the first two don’t break physics as we know it, while the third does; the reason I put immortality before Dyson Spheres is because there exist animals that are allegedly immortal already, so it’s plausible that humanity could be guided to evolve that whereas the requirements of building a Dyson Sphere are such that by the time a civilisation was advanced enough to build one, it’d no longer have the need to do so. As for small Black… Read more »
Happy Sunday my CoG Brothers and Sisters!
It’s the X.L.B.S show!
What’s everyone been working on this weekend?
I’ve been assembling the pieces of my Mandolorian ‘Razor Crest’ ship that I’ve 3D printed and YES it is scaled for Star Wars: Legion! I plan to use it in a scenario in December during the Star Wars Hobby Weekend. Along with other ships and terrain that I’ve been printing.
It’s been great having a common goal to focus on that my CoG friends are also focusing on as well.
Hobby ON DUDES!
Happy sunday
Happy Sunday!!!
I think I’m reserving judgement until I actually get to watch the whole episode. 😉
I’d personally say FTL travel is more than likely. The speed of light as a ‘barrier ‘is something that humans have put into place with our limited understanding and perception of the universe and physics in general. We certain don’t know everything and there’s much, much more to be discovered. Remember that these laws of physics that you’re supposedly ‘breaking’ are laws that we, as humans, have put into place with our very limited understanding. It doesn’t mean they’re correct. Once-upon-a-time it was thought impossible to go faster than the speed of sound. Then we discovered we were wrong… The… Read more »
happy sunday CoG
coffee & XLBS on a dark frosty Sunday and everyone else in his bed.
there is nothing better.
Happy Sunday, and Hail to all COGS !
Ok, couple of thoughts ref where humanity goes: * @lordofuzkulak makes a good point ref small blackholes vs large blackholes and escaping energy, but an alternate take is that a blackhole is a singularity, a tear in reality. Compare the pressure you can get from putting a small hole in a container of liquid vs a large hole – more might come out of the large hole, but it will be at a far, far lower pressure than that coming out of the small hole * Equally, I HIGHLY recommend reading the most recent relaunch of X-Men, House of X… Read more »
And @warzan , are you accounting for the change in the Warp Factor Scale between The Original Series and Next Generation? TOS Warp 9 is somewhere around TNG Warp 5…
Those Star Wars scenarios seem like a campaign to me. The Wookie Cookie Wars starts out with getting the Wookie Cookie explosives, that are to be used in the Star Wars-Eben Emal assaults shape charge. The assault on the Star Wars-Eben Emal has the objective of the rebels laying their hands on the Emperors schedule. With the schedule in their hands the assault on the Emperor and the Royal Guards last stand can be played out. I think that would make a brilliant 4 game campaign.
Happy Sunday!
Happy Sunday one and all.
Can’t believe you guys had so much trouble finding out about the german assault on a belgian fort… 😛
Happy Sunday!
Regarding @Avernos use of green on his leather, many artists start skintones from a green base and Leather is just tanned skin of something. I think Romain may have done a skintone tutorial that way.
that’s generally to account for blue blood vessels under the skin
Great show guys. No don’t say it, no be nice he really likes the idea don’t ruin it come on man don’t be a dick. Screw it. @warzan that Cavalry v Ships thing never happened. Yes they took the fleet prisoner but they never charged anyone or did any real fighting. basically they rode up to the ships, some men dismounted and they took them prisoner because they had been told by their Government to surrender. The charging the ice and storming the ships was just French propaganda based on a Post-War (Napoleonic War) invention. If I remember right the… Read more »
bollocks 🙁
lol aww well it was nice while it lasted lol
Happy Sunday… YAY, we Won! ^^
How about this for a House Challenge.
What if we had a House Chaos Tournament? Each House puts forward 4 people then we have a Knockout Tournament to see who’s House is the best at Chaos. I’m sure we can find a Chaos online Multiplayer Emulator.
You guys could even live-stream a game on Twitch and give commentary.
Wouldnt the winner just be the person who didnt show up?
The winner would be Gerry because he’d reveal at the end that it was all an illusion and he’d been playing all 12 accounts this whole time.
the chairman of my old wargames club, was once demoing a game at a show , where you had to kill the bishop. every now and then he would call out . “who wants to bash the bishop !” and wondered why he was getting funny looks. the next event the bishop had been swapped out for Elvis
did he scream out who wants to bugger the king?
I wonder if that’s why you can get whoppers in Burger King
I would say yes , but i would be lieing
Justin’s suggestion has given me an interesting idea. We build and paint a house army each. Everyone paints a model/unit and submits pics to the house. One photoshop whiz in each house takes all those pics and combines them to show the whole army together. This might be better off taking a quarter or perhaps a whole year, rather than a month. Perhaps steer away from games/factions with large units though, favouring ones where most minis are characters, or at least characterful.
Good plan, which ancient armies do you think we should do. Greek.Persian and Indian I think would be the most interesting
What size/scale do you think?
If you were thinking 28mm and maybe ancient Iberian I would happily look after it for everyone
I was thinking something a little more showey than ancients, but I’m open to all possibilities. I don’t really know historicals. Anything that lets us show a little flare and have a little fun. As for scale, 28-32mm seems appropriate. It’s big enough so that even if we only paint one model we can put some effort in to it and still see the results. While all three houses should have to operate under the same scale and rough theme guides (Scifi, fantasy, ancient), each house should get to pick which army and how they want to aproach it. Would… Read more »
You can take your Persians and shove ’em. It’ll take all year just to paint one mini let alone a unit 🙂
Napoleonics is easily the most “Flashy” Historical period so that’d be a good place to look. I would recommend the Light Cavalry. I mean just look at this French nonsense.
I reckon Seven years war runs it a close second if not it’s equal
There bus also the Mughal empire which is quite bright and garish
Happy Sunday folks, enjoyed watching the show, thought the presentations were brilliant (wish I could have participated in the votes on discord, but with work commitments and too knackered to read and watch stuff, it’s my day off and I’m still doing work stuff). As someone mentioned a good campaign setting, would be nice to see this happen again, maybe an annual house project. Great show made me laugh, thanks.
All the talk about Star Trek and Warp Engines, reminds me of a TNG episode in which Data was playing poker on the holodeck against people from history, and Hawking had a cameo as himself.
Apparently he had a tour of the sets and when in Engineer, upon looking at the Matter/Antimatter reactor, said something along the lines of “I’m working on one of those”.
slightly off-topic but I do remember once someone said they know we will never break Lightspeed and thus time travel because if we did we would already know about it.
@warzan and @avernos you could also set the sacking of theed during the episode 1-3 and have the attacker are the droid army with Dooku leading as the defenders are members of the 501st under the command of Rex as they lead the chancellors away to safety.
Yup. Like I said I’m the project once the scenario is written you could easily pay it with any forces ad the attacker and defenders
Happy sunday. 40 minutes in and its a cracker!
The record hath been broken! I know for a fact @ludicryan snuck in just to edit that bit. What a legend
I’m either too dry or too wet -Lloyd.
@warzan is the only one immature enough to smirk. This was the moment I knew I was in the right house.
Looooooool, where are you getting your inside information from!? Wasn’t going to let a good opportunity go by to observe the egg being boiled.
Not all heroes wear capes!
Happy sunday guys!
Siege of Constantinople? Which one?. 1453 was the Ottomans beseiging it with the biggest feckin cannon you’ve ever seen when the city fell
Yep. that’s the one. The city finally fell when someone “accidentally” left a small door unattended and an elite commando raid “snuck in” through that door and opened one of the main gates.
that’s how sieges are won aren’t they ?
you wait long enough for one of those inside decides to let you in through the back door …
