That’s what the kids these days say right? ??
?
Well played 🙂
Happy sunday
Silver lining of not being able to sleep is being able to watch Backstage as soon as it goes live. ;). Unfortunately this wasn’t all that interesting of an episode for me as I’m not into FoW or WW2 gaming, but I don’t mind as I’m sure other games will be covered in other weeks which I’ll find more interesting. 😉
Same too you – although as it’s Fathers Day shouldn’t you be spending time with the sprogs instead of on here? ?
If we really are going with the whole Cult thing, when do we receive our official cult vestments? And what colour are said robes? Also, I’d like to put my name forward for High Magister of the Wales Coven of the Cult. ? . . Men riding tanks – aka the original ablative armour. ? If the Yanks ban look into the past, couldn’t they do something useful with it like use it to recover all the lost Doctor Who episodes? I’m sure @dracs will back me up on the importance of this. ? ‘Some Dude on eBay’ – cousin… Read more »
The colour would obviously be Zhandri Dust
If you sign up for the 40k bootcamp then those vestments will arrive … or so it is whispered.
What we really need is a secret handshake of sorts.
Maybe an invisible dice throwing gesture ? 😉
Wouldn’t that be mistaken for a hand gesture for something else
that’s the sneaky bit … only true cult members would know 😀
People do that sign at me all the time, I wouldn’t know if they were OTTers or just thought i was an ******
Maybe there just Gareth Hunt impersonators practicing with their coffee beans
Maybe I am mishearing the names they are calling me and they are really shouting Gareth Hunt…it does sound a bit like stupid…. 🙂
Happy Sunday!!!
Happy Sunday @enginseer
Well that was certainly a triumphant return @warzan ! That was a great return to watching all of you banter and harass each other. It was a great hobby weekend to able to watch the Weekender while painting and proceed through the whole day with great hobby and great food and finish that same day watching XLBS. That’s Power Gaming. 😀 There was just one interruption in the whole day… “How do you think they became so successful? Do you really think it’s their work ethic?” I had to stop painting because I was laughing too hard to keep from… Read more »
It’s the XLBS show.t Am I ready to watch this! I’m up till 03:00am Central US time tending to my slow low smoked Western Full Rack Pork Ribs. I’m about as hungry for the XLBS as I am for these ribs that are cooking. Just another three hours or so to cook but I bet the XLBS is primed and ready to be consumed! Enjoy fellow Backstagers/COG members….. PS. On Sunday that the FoW boot camp ended I went on line and ordered ‘Colours Of War’ as I own the first one and found it a useful tool in working… Read more »
Oh, and Happy Sunday! ?
Oh, and Happy Father’s Day to all my fellow Gamers and Hobbiest out there!
Happy Fathers Sunday to you too @templar007 🙂
Happy Sunday!
Or is it the Puerile gland?
Haha. made a Wally joke! Or is it just really bad spelling?
Can it be both?
@warzan . Have you though about a black Klear wash for your infantry instead of the soft tone as from the video it looks like you lost a lot of the zenith effect using the AP stuff.
The slow grow league is interesting but does it have to be 15mm and does it have to be FoW ?
You might want to consider looking at historical scenarios when @lloyd is building his stuff as it would be something to work towards
This game uses the same unit size as FoW I believe

And some scenarios

Happy Sunday, Father’s Day, beginning of the rest of the weekend!
If OTT is looking for ideas for parts of the slow grow league… Back when I ran a hobby business that traded and provided prize supports at FoW tourneys, one of the prizes was for a custom objective marker.
It was quite popular as it didn’t require the winner to be great tactically or be a power gamer. The judges looked for something that told a story and was original.
One of the winning entries was for a snow based army, may have been for Battle of the Bulge, where the objective marker had a snowman as part of the scene.
BF already have the league planned out with little gifts for participants, two tourneys and ending in the OTT supported campaign
Absolutely agree on the Colours of War book, I picked one up on the Flames of War weekend, I’ve been glued to it ever since!
Happy Sunday! For plastic railway rolling stock, you needed to add weight to stop them jumping over points and other things. Remember using lead fishing weights (when you could still buy them) to weigh them down – probably with a two part epoxy. I’d assume if you varnished an elastic band, it won’t deteriorate in the same way. Dried herbs are also a good way of adding a bit of foliage on the cheap and your tanks will smell glorious! @warzan I agree with Gerry, baking soda and super glue would have been the easiest way to fill those gaps.… Read more »
Happy Sunday
@warzan your “Mage in a Cage” is totally awesome. Love it… perhaps I´ll steal it from you ^^
I’ve always like milliput . Very under rated stuff
I agree 0n Milliput for large gaps, for smaller gaps I find Vallejo’s Plastic Putty easier to apply and control.
Good morning everyone. Boy, I’ve caught you now! 😉
Great show, yet again chaps! Following the excellent recommendation for the ‘Colours of War’ book, I will be getting it, but from ny LFGS as without support they will not continue! Just a minor observation, it was more like the ‘Warren Show’ with cameos from Jerry, Lloyd and long suffering Justin!
I had a lot to talk about 😉
But now I have got it out of my system…
@warzan I was hoping we would get to see your 15mm ancients this weekend
you mean my 15mm medieval? yup I’m working on those 🙂
Ah yes. Medievals it was
As like much of the banter in your shows, my comment was meant light hearted! But I probably don’t need to say that to a ‘wind-up’ merchant like you Warren ?
“The Warren Show” …… you know it has all the hallmarks of a great, badtaste sitcom that isn’t quite right but is bloody funny anyway. I’m the streaming networks would buy at least 100 episodes of it.
No one would admit to watching it in polite company of course…… but everybody would.
Alright that’s settled lads … go ahead and make it.
Suggestion! Why not have an ‘XXLBS’ section, and title it ‘ The Warren Show!” I’d probably consider another £3-£4 / month for that? But, the trade off would be a relinquishing a main role (monopoly), in the ‘XLBS’???
lol
Didn’t FOW bring out some special editions tanks that are based on experimental vehicles that where never used and wasn’t the Maus one of them?
I think they had a mid war monsters book in 2nd or 3rd edition which included stats for the Maus.
I don’t know if they ever made the minis, but google got me this page :
http://www.agisn.de/html/15mm_german.html
Apparently the Germans even had plans for a ‘Ratte’ (= Rat) which would have looked good in 40k universe next to the Baneblade …
the Maus and Ratte were made by Forged in Battle and Zvezda also do a Maus in plastic, but no rules were published for FoW for them
yes and no, the Mid war monsters largest German was the Tiger (P)
Okay, so you have me hooked enough that I would like to pick up some FoW. Obviously, I would like the opportunity to be able to take part in the slow grow event but where do I start? I see it is late period, do we wait until nearer the event for an announcement, is a slow grow like a tale of gamers where you buy and paint and then buy some more? My interest is piqued but I have no idea where to begin or what we are talking about. I plan to pick up the featured book anyway… Read more »
if you’re planning anything other than Yank then the book is handy as it has all four nations. the cards replicate the book so they’re nice but not necessary. If Yanks are your thing, there is a better book coming in July so I’d cool my jets and wait for that, otherwise go nuts ^^
@avernos I ended up going for the Germans purely for how the overall force looked. It will also be useful as they can double as enemy in a St Nazaire game in the distant future for myself and Warren.
@noyjatat I’ve no idea about Flames of War, but thought about getting the Hit the Beach starter set to begin with. Ultimately I want to do something involving the North Irish Horse in either North Africa or Italy (not necessarily in 15mm) but the slow grow sounds a great opportunity to learn a bit more before I start my main project.
@robert bit the bullet and grabbed a starter box, some German cards and the painting book. Plenty of horse units across the ranges which would work in FoW if you did decide to go that route. I have to admit the book is right up my street as I always like to try and keep to armies lore or back stories where I can. For historical and my approach to hobbying having stuff as accurate as possible helps me feel better about the force. Looking forward to getting my hands on it and hope that other companies take the idea… Read more »
I just got the painting book, I have the first edition but fancied the second one just in case I ever buy some more modern tanks…I’m rather partial to a Chieftain! I’ll follow along any project you start and we can bug @avernos for advices!
better start researching those st nazaire were wolves and flying saucers then mate 😉
if you want to come up and play some games to see Robert let me and @lordsanes know and we can put our collective heads together
I’d be up for sure, just give me a little notice.
Will do. I’ll be picking your brain regularly anyway if I do get the starter set!
Colour of war ordered.
“Die Glocke” (the bell) doesn’t sound like some distant village in Scotland @warzan 😉 It’s more like “glog k” (the K pronounced like in K-pop)
Some day I will do an mp3 with all correct pronunciations. 😉
We would have to be very careful of a recording like that leaking into the public arena and causing a mass outbreak of orgasms mate.
Great power and responsibility and all that 😉
I would love to have an audio source for proper pronunciation of words spoken by people who know the language best!
Here’s your bases @warzan https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3694483 They aren’t recessed for minis like the proper FoW bases since with the 1p Recess you can’t cut into the top of the base. Warren is right I’ve seen a few criticisms of that guys video including a few people who are claiming he’s using things from clips rather than the show and might not have even watched the entire thing. That being said Nuclear Power is actually pretty safe. Don’t build them on fault lines and with regular maintenance you’re fine. Anyone who wants to talk about Chernobyl I would like to point to… Read more »
Great post mate
Me and lloyd haven’t forgot about AoP either mate will get some time now to go over it more. 🙂
Happy sunday!
Sat here watching whilst cleaning up a US Rifle platoon of mould lines so looking forward to jumping in on the community slow grow
@warzan – re painting faces/flesh, I bought a magnifier head set last week before starting painting my FoW stuff… best investment ever! Why didn’t I get one of these 25yrs ago?! 🙂
Woo Sunday!
Happy Sunday. Went and ordered my “Colours of War” had to register for store login and only forgot to add the discount code, silly person that I am. Thanks for a good laugh.
Hi mate
drop us an email with your order number and we’ll get the difference refunded for you. 🙂
That’s weird… I’m clicking on @avernos Project link and all is well. But when I then hit “return to Project” it’s an “up’s nothing here” error. Is the project secret? oO
yes it’s just the one I use for photos in the XLBS if I don’t have a “proper” project for it. I am in the middle of doing something at the moment so a real project will appear shortly 😀
@warzan,@avernos, a tip for weighting tanks from a mate at Chase Wargames is to squirt no more nails into it. Dries fairly solid and puts a lot of weight.
I’ll just stick to the plastercine
I’ve had colours of war cooking in my cart for a few days now, so what an opportune moment to finally pull the trigger.
Would love to jump in on a slow grow league, as I’ve already got a sizeable British Airborne force I think I’ll go down the Yank route this time and expand on the Hit the Beach set I bought on release day. Nice and handy considering the next book will be American. Wasn’t a deciding factor at all… Honest! ?
