Happy weekend boys & girls
ready for the weekender and the Greatest movie ever made, also give to unicef
Happy Friday All. I’m very tempted by the new Blacksite minis. So far I’ve fought the temptation of the Warlord Epic ranges as have 6mm napoleonic to work on but I will be looking forward to seeing more about Blood & Steel which could support my Newline design Zulu War project. Newline have a 25% sale on by the way for anyone interested.
There is some great stuff out there for sure – The Blood & Steel stuff really has me excited.
Oddly enough I was thinking this today, if they did Romans or Zulu war in the epic scale I might be interested.
As I mention in the show – Dark Age or Romans and I would certainly have to take a closer look!
It woukd be interesting to know how popular Warlord Napoleonic range is given the massive amount of 15mm Napoleonics and also ancients if Warlord go down route there already is
I think ancients/Mediveal is a much more complicated period to cover successfully
I think if they stick to covering a particular battle or campaign they could keep a good handle on things.
yeah, they wouldn’t need to cover ‘everything’.
The big hits will suffice and may be more cost effective in the long run.
Those who would love to play the ‘lesser known’ battles are likely to be playing ancients anyway …
I think its Foundry who have a good range of Maoris
I’ll have to check it out – I think if I could dive in I’d do it from the Maori side of things.
Sorry its not Foundry .. Its been a while since I saw them
Can’t comment… must hobby…
Can’t hobby … must comment … 😉
Whomever Hanna Fry is, she clearly never watched the Simpsons episode where Lisa beats Bart at PRS because she knows he always picks rock.
Getting into the mind of your opponent
These days I find that I’m getting more and more of my 3D printing goodness from MMF and Patreon than from Kickstarter. As I understand it, MMF offers the best option from the designers side as they don’t take as big a cut as the other two, but more so, don’t interfere with what the designer/artist is allowed to actually offer up to the customer.
Looking at some of the images from theGreat Grimoire had me going “ooh, yeah, that would really creep the bejesus out of my players”. What more can you ask for?
MMF and Patreon does seem like the way to dive in. Nice monthly turnover and options to engage with sculptors
Its weekender time YYYYyyyaaaaaaaa.
The studio painting of the tartan on the epic Highlanders is very good, but for me the standout is the hat bands.
Anyway, I reckon the next era for Warlord’s epic range might be Pike & Shotte, English Civil War or Sengoku Japan. Both have the potential to follow the ‘one sprue for both sides’ pattern from the ACW range (although the Napoleonics show that doesn’t have to be a constraining factor).
English Civil War would be awesome…I’d buy that!
Evil Banana-man ?
that drowned earth has dinos ?
Around 1:20:00, Gerry can always try ordering a centaur from Heroforge. You know, if you don’t mind having a centaur flailing around like an extra on the old movie Fame… Or Flashdance.
Who needs Hail Caesar in 15mm when you have Mortem et Gloriam that is a far superior rule set and already you can get plenty of Romans in 15mm and in both metal and plastic…
More choice is never bad
Very true, i actually posted this before watching the episode, If they bring out a range of figures that would be cool, they would work well for MeG.
of course you did, why wait for facts when you can post your suppositions immediately 😛
That said I do believe that HC was mentioned in the video as a way to go..so my comment does still hold up in a way ?
not really, HC was mentioned as it is the property of WG and the question was if they were to continue their epic range what would we like to see next.
Otherwise, the answer Star Wars could have been given and have as much validity as your comment.
While I agree that MeG is probably better than HC the real problem with ancient gaming is that the rulesets are far too generic in nature and thesecdays seem mostly aimed tournament gaming especially when lot of these are open tournaments so you get games with forces from wildly differing time periods
That’s the beauty of MeG system it does actually make you feel like you are playing a army of they type you have. Even published Roman military historians have said that when playing MeG they get the feeling of playing a Roman Army.
Yes you can play MeG in tournaments and it works very well, I do plan it in tournaments. There are only a couple of open tournaments in the calendar, most are focused by period.
Blimey it’s Friday night again..?
EPIC Ancients … it’s a yarp from me
a lovely interesting show guy’s
Acheson Creations… take my money… and spent Regarding the pizza delivery and what grinds Lloyd’s gears, check out the book “Snow Crash” and the opening chapter is about The Deliverator. The audiobook does a damn good job in bringing the the protagonist to life. “2hrs” for such a huge VtM game? With as massive an endeavor as that is I’m skeptical and I agree w/ Gerry. There’s too much going on… that and I think I’d rather much like to play as Tzimisce and rofflestomp some nonce Toreadors with a vozhd or two. Purple Haze sounds interesting as a possibility… Read more »
yeah … “The Deliverator” … and his ‘real’ name : Hero Protagonist
The description of how that pizza chain operates makes me wish more delivery services operated like that 😉
@avernos, the most classic of Kryten quotes! “An excellent suggestion sir, with only two minor draw backs….” ???
Robbie Rocketpants ftw!
One ring to rule them all,
One ring to find them,
One ring to bring them all,
And in my collection bind them…
Wow, MSRP for Masquerade Blood Feud retail level was $135 for the $99 pledge… that’s some inflation in a couple of years!

Great show!
Ancients are a great idea for the next Warlord Epic Battles game. I’m up for that.
Happy Saturday.
Indie of the week looks good but I imagine the postage cost from the US would be prohibitive for me.
Excited about the Osmoticmeld Kickstarter.
Haven’t had time to watch the Purple Haze video but it’s in my to watch list.
Good stuff.
Watching the Weekender a day late, finished work early 😀 Fancy the prize, getting into more Lord of the Rings gaming because of OTT and Zorpazorp also busy 3D printing stuff for the games to start.
Really liking what Warlord are going for Napoleonic wargaming. Secretly hoping they release an epic scale Zulu War set. Fingers crossed! Welcome to the weekend everyone!
