AdeptiCon Talks Ep 6: Warhammer Fantasy & Age Of Sigmar
December 20, 2015 by deltagamegirl22
This week we're joined by Alex to talk about Warhammer Fantasy and Age of Sigmar available at Adepticon 2016. It's looking very exciting this year for the fantasy games and we're looking forward to playing a few games this year at AdeptiCon!
The event is going to run from March 31st till April 3rd in 2016 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel in Schaumburg, Illinois. Registration is now open.
As you might imagine there are all manner of interesting tournaments being run for games like Infinity, SAGA, Kings of War and more. There will also be plenty of Hobby Seminars and interesting events around board gaming too.
What games will you be playing at AdeptiCon?

I applaud Adepticon for running both types of event, and for being positive and letting people have fun the way they want to.
It wasn’t clear to me whether there was some kind of points system for the AoS events though. Is there an actual competitive AOS tournament? If so, is there an attempt to balance armies beyond the sudden death win conditions in the core rules? Is the STK (?) system that was referred to in the clip a homebrew points system which is being used to ensure players are bringing roughly equal armies?
Here’s the rules, @angelicdespot

I plan to play Aetherium and Freeblades…for now, maybe more to be added. Demos wherever I can.
There’s a team tournament on the Friday and then a two day singles tournament on the Saturday and Sunday, and one day singles tournament on the Saturday only. My guess is the two singles will run concurrently on the Saturday. The rules pack hasn’t been released yet.
I have to say I love that guy’s passion for the game; it’s really refreshing to see that.
I agree. I don’t have a lot of experience with tournaments, but it will be interesting to see what the community makes of a well-run and attended AoS tournament.
And of ocurse, it will be interesting to see what a well-run AoS tournament looks like… I’m a fan of narrative over competitive points match games but I can’t see how an AoS tournament will work unless it’s either just a narrative event or a ‘play for laughs’ event. If they’re trying to rank people by results though I wonder how they’re going to do this.
