August 5, 2020 by warzan
Warren is getting creative with us today and continuing his VLOG series where he builds the entrance to his epic 28mm D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) Display using the Archon Studio Dungeons & Lasers Dungeon Plastic Set of tabletop scenery terrain for use with your miniatures.

In this video, we're looking at adding building the entrance to the dungeon. If you were to make a dream set of 28mm tabletop dungeon scenery or a diorama for Dungeons & Dragons; how would you approach it? Would it be with one of these plastic dungeon sets to suit your miniatures?

Looking really cool so far.
An idea for the lighting effects, how about some glowing eyes in dark corners or behind the grates/bars or some tentacles/claws reaching out from the darkness to add a bit of unseen menace?
And i was thinking back in Video 1 this be a small and easy build for your front room..! any bigger and you be selling tickets at the front door… and remember the wife may ask how much it cost..warning..!!!
The tentacles could be a ancient monster thats been woking up by the miners..!!!! run..
Just an idea @warzan :
Maybe your ‘fake trees’ can be a chimney in disguise?
I think brother Lloyd will tell you to put a train in it 🙂
But whatever you do keep vloging 8D
Absolute belter of a project @warzan Thoroughly enjoying watching along with the build. Don’t anything interesting or exciting to add, just wanted to say I think it’s great.
proxxon has good material but be careful (i have a hot wire cutter and burnt my fingers) the solution a foot pedal from proxxon ? no more burnt fingers.
I do not know if this also works on the circular saw table but if it is, this is definitely recommended.
?? ?
I don’t have first hand experience with the Proxxon table saw but from what others told me: it’s not great. There are other model table saws that are better. Proxxon does great mini tools (love my hot wire cutter) but the table saw is sub par. Thought it might be sufficient for your needs. Looking forward to a report on that.
For a job of this scale it’s worth making your own ink. Ask Gerry, Gerry can.
I know this is a personal project and all but would be great to see a let’s play session up using this once it’s complete ?
Ooh will a crazy historian with a whip be turning up in the dungeon then @warzan sounds a good solid planed table game.
First up @warzan – steal-worthy project concept 🙂 Next, think you might be missing a trick on more mushrooms scattered here and there 😉 Seriously though, to add some colour and interest to what might otherwise be dark dungeon walls and to cover the round ‘torch-holder’ gaps, as well as torches can I suggest you may wish to consider spare shields painted up with bright heraldry, or weapon racks mounted on the walls, heads of taxidermy-ed monsters styled like hunting trophies, small printed photos with balsa wood frames to look like portraits or paintings, or if you can get some… Read more »
@warzan, I don’t want to derail your commentary idea, but looking at what you have there I realized, there is actually real life example of similar dungeon. In Znojmo (south Moravia, Czech Republic) citizens dug deep dungeon under whole of the city, it had three levels and was so spacious that when during 30 years war Swedish army conquered the city, whole population took shelter underground. The Swedes were terrified as all the chimneys were smoking but every house was empty. At the same below ground people were living almost ordinary lives with pubs and restaurants and shops operating business… Read more »
Take a look at the new “spooky trees” from Mantic (rather than those horrid new GW ones (why, oh why did they get rid of the old ones and replace them with those monstrosities).
Not sure why these aren’t in the Mantic Store yet (I do know the ones I got from NorthStar came without any retail packaging…so that might be why).

As I look behind Warren, it looks like 4Ground have provided their ENTIRE catalogue of MDF terrain to BoW over the years. It’s quite a collection there…..
Really like the final direction on the surface. Nice idea on the trees being fake, Autumn themed, and I would absolutely make a tree or stump the chimney for the forge. If you want to go extra crazy cut some holes in the trees and put two tiny red LED lights as glowing eyes. Make them magnetized so you can hide ghouls, skeletons, or other nasty monsters with just their heads visible. Did I see a house in the middle of the cavern? If so, you should make that a witches hut. Put heads on spears outside and make the… Read more »
I’m really loving this series Warran, this type of thing has definitely been missed over the past few months. It’s great to see things slowly picking up again!!
@warzan First off great progress! I absolutely love blu tac! My wife’s family always bring me some every time they visit.
Only idea I have is to ditch the tentacles you are using and get a Watcher in the Water model from GWs LOTR line! They are much longer and in my opinion look much better! Will also make Justin happy!
It’s getting there!
>Tentacles, going up through a shaft
Have you been browsing my hentai collection?
>The narrative for my dungeon is, it’s a dungeon hidden beneath an ancient heroes’ cemetery This sounds a lot like the Shadow Temple from Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, which was originally a place used by a secretive organisation, the Sheikah, who acted as spies and assassins in the service of the Hylian royal family. Some of the in-game flavour text hints at their being corrupted and betrayed from within. The Shadow Temple is beneath the graveyard found beyond Kakariko village, where many knights and nobles have been laid to rest, and is filled with a contrasting cast of… Read more »
The tentacles piece from Mantic’s Hellboy game might be good for this purpose
