oooo, my lord, I may have to steal this idea, I have 10+ mats now so not quite the same level of a problem but this is a damn good idea.
If Justin has a a big disk cutter (stillsaw) outside and don’t mind smoke you’re in Guy’s for cutting more and wood,a great way to store warzan’s matsa sheet of clear plastic would prevent spillage damaging them appeasing Lloyd.
Great idea for storage.
How I store my mats is in the wall. When I built my ‘game room/BoW studio’ I left room between the inner and outer walls. I access that gap through the doorway to the room. One side is a short wall and one a longer wall. The short wall has large PVC tubes stacked and used for mat storage. The long wall gap is used for storing 4 x 4 and 6 x 4 tabletops.
Epic idea and execution! Katyusha is one of those words that’s been “rounded off” and “sanded down” (no pun intended). Technically Katyushas (BM-13s and later variants) are launched off of rails. HOWEVER, later cold-war rocket systems like the BM-21 (commonly called “Grad”) are often called unofficially “Katyushas” as well, and they’re totally launched out of tubes. 😀 Even the size sounds about right, the rockets were usually 122mm (about 5 inches) across. I remember hauling all those mats up from the basement in the little “Justin Convention Wagon.” 😀 Don’t look now, but do you have / need more pipes… Read more »
Awesome!!!
and there was me thinking my idea of hanging mine on the back of my hobby room door was good, ok for four but 120+ bloody hell i wasnt aware there were that many.
loved the singing @warzan nearly made me spill my Rum laughing, but only nearly, all this productiveness only prods me into action, to the hobby room that cupboard of pending wont sort itself……
It’s a MATUSHYA!!!!
Bloody good idea gentlemen…but lads what gentlemen are you when you let Cass carry them pipes in ,I am so for equal opportunity and the physical strength of Cass but gentlemen gentlemen hang your heads in shame…?
Good gaming room idea.
You might want to seal up those ‘triangles’ at both ends to stop them filling up with dust etc. and to avoid losing precious little bits in them.
Sometimes I love being a backstager….
“Don’t stick your fingers in dirty holes llyod, what age are ya!?!”
…. this is one of those moments
That’s a great idea! I’m up to 8 mats now so not ready for that but maybe when I retire the second time and start a BOW North Carolina hub! ?
Unless the mats are really long or really thick I think you could have used a smaller diameter and gotten more tubes under the desk.
Also: FALSE ADVERTISING! CLICKBAIT! I want to see rockethellfirefury! @johnlyons MAKE IT HAPPEN!
poundland sell hacksaws i think….
Justin smells a bend saw wherever a saw got bend……… Not sure where I’m going with this. ?
@warzan give them to me and I can store em for ya 😀
metal cutoff blade and table saw. One of those battery powered job site saws will work provided you get one with a blade height above the pipe and you use a rail. Wear safety glasses and a mask but the cut should be clean and need little to no cleanup. Great part of those job site table saws is you can fold them and put them away.
My only question regarding the mats, how will you label the tubes to make it easier to find? With a 120+, I suspect you will be searching for some time.
Just had to get that in there… didn’t ya! LOL
120 mats!? I have… two… but hey I get zero games in over here in the North Pole so.. I don’t need anymore. Time to change that one.
