We've had a busy week in the office, and to top it off we've had a major malfunction before the weekender. A computer update...
Yes, we've had to ditch our Weekender recording time and kick it old school for Backstage instead.
Not to worry though, we have a Gates of Antares Let's Play on your way for Saturday, we have many community projects going on in the forums including Uncle Jimmy's Weekenders, What Are You Painting Now, Infinity Painting Competitions, and much more.
Tune in Sunday for Backstage where we'll be going over what's been happening this week and we build some 4Ground ready for the Walking Dead Boot Camp.
Have a great Weekend!
Sounds like that was a big load of bollocks :/
Tough luck guys I have had the infamous windows updates before, but nothing that relies on the one machine so I can’t imagine how infuriating that would be. Hopefully the gremlins will be on the best behaviour after this.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooop!
Just play in the forums for now, they will be back they working hard. They know you love them… infact the love letters with perfume sprayed on them might be going a bit far 😛
you should have a test card like the BBC had many years ago did for the next time guys.
seconded windows 10 is a piece shit
you seriously prefer windows 8? 😉
windows 10 is fine, its crappy drivers which cause the issues, secret to avoid snafu’s like that is to set updates to deffered, stops the major feature enhancement updates happening until youwant it, but you still get the standard security updates as they are deployed
I second that
I third that
Well it is Dropzone Invasion Weekend , so i doubt i will have much time to watch the weekender this week…lol
Any word on when we could see the Rumbleslam demo game? Really looking forward to it.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I second that for a second time
Great
@caladors
Oi! Shouldn’t you be painting Silver Tower figures!?
😉
Assembling that is why I was away for so long ha ha. Just drop in now and then 😀
People tell me I type very very fast.
Gotta love Win 10 with its forced updates, right guys ? 😉
The bloody thing decides when it will update based on what’s more annoying and inconvenient to you.
At least that’s been my impression.
Good luck and may the gods of the digital domain be in your favour
And this is why I always change windows update’s default to let me to decide when to install updates. You can still configure this in windows 10 if you use the classic control panel (right-click on the windows logo in the bottom left for quick access).
Does that work for every update even the official ones ?
The official updates can only be surpressed within a limited time slot.
A neat trick is to set your internet connection to ‘metered’.
It apparently won’t download any updates.
The business licenses apparently also have a few more options when it comes to handling forced updates.
not it still downloads updates perhaps not as many but still updates usually when your busy. @limburger
you can stop updates but only with win10 professional (?I have been told) it has the old update options as well but.
Sodding typical, just when your about to do something……………….”Windows” think`s………let`s put a spanner in the works.
If anything, windows should ask you first and give you the choice of delaying the up date for a few hour`s. So you can have a chance to finish what your working, come on windows get yourselves organised.
Goddamned Windows 10! Its like Microsoft wants people to buy Macs… maybe they bought Apple stock?
Mostly it’s just MS keeping you safe from all the bugs that they left in Windows 10. Don’t forget that Apple put out about the same number of updates – they generally just wait for you to update, leaving you open to bug exploitation longer. Neither way is brilliant, so go with the advice from @monkeysloth if you run time sensitive issues.
because they cant be arsed to test properly when they are writing the program.
I’ve had no issues with windows 10 ever. All four laptops and 2 pc’s in my house are on it, and everyone is just fine.
no worries if your not coming out to play tomorrow.
see you sunday morning.
That’s why I never updated to Windows 10. 7 works just fine for me.
Amen brother (or sister as the case may be)
I love love love and oh yeah.. so totally heart the chin-wags! Best part of the Backstage events! 🙂
I think you should use the card the Springfield tv station used on the Simpson’s. And of course I can’t find a pic. That might be irony.
Go pro windows 10 & claim back control of your PC. It has to be worth the upgrade price if it stops you working on the Weekender.

Windows 10 Professional Edition: Defer upgrades
While Home users are stuck with having to work around automatic updates, Professional users have a built-in option that allows them to defer updates for several months. The best part of this option is that security patches are still applied, it’s just system updates that are held back.
Saying that I use linux & os/x at home
AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! How DARE Microsoft deny us our weekend dose of the weekender???? BRING ME THE HEAD OF BILL GATES ON A MDF TRAY!!!!!
Seriously, hate when this happens, hope all the issues are worked out and things return to normal.
At least you didn’t get a bad update. I had an update that was corrupted or something and wouldn’t let the computer boot back up. I had to revert to an earlier version. That took about two hours counting the initial bad download and was fixed until windows 10 decided to force the same corrupted update on the computer. I was kept in this cycle until Microsoft fixed their un wanted update.
