Well done for dumping the energy drinks.
Thanks mate – appreciated! 🙂 (Sitting here clutching my bottled water lol)
I was drinking too much diet coke and pepsi for a while and when I stopped the big thing I missed wasn’t the taste, it was the fizzy bubbles. Sparkling water plus a little orange cordial was my substitute. A soda stream paid for itself in no time. My niece and nephew called it my “healthy fanta”.
lol
Agreed awesome job reducing those energy drinks. Really strong work buddy.
Now to hit those stairs mate 😉 lol
@warzan just thinking this as I am watching so sorry for the randomness My personal preference would be a new post for the video just because it is very public and I am not sure I would want to put myself out there that much. Honestly, I think Skype is an awful tool for group video, it just does not handle varying connection quality very well, I would highly recommend looking at something like Zoom.us or Google Hangouts over Skype… By the way, I would love to be involved. The IP camera is a great idea for monitoring the 3d… Read more »
Agree @laughingboy. A new post would be good.
Excellent advice mate, will look into environmental sensors.
And yes – its going to be a fresh post.
love the 3D building guys an great looking stuff in the boxes you opened up.
something familiar about those prints…
Printable Scenery – these are test pieces we are using to zero everything in at the moment 🙂
Good to see you guys back (love the whole crew but seeing you both go through the ringer it’s a relief), congrats on the detox @warzan.
On the back-stage going front stage, as a “non contributor” to that… I would put out a different intro bit to explain what it’s about, that it’s been backstage and already commented on there etc (am sure you would but just to belts and braces). It’s a courageous move to do, and I hope the “YouTube” community is as supportive.
Stay sexy!
Sexy is my middle name baby 😉
Once again this renforced how lucky I am/we are to have this community. It’s so much more than tiny plastic fighting men.
Massive congrats on the detox, hope keep it up. My only advice for anything health wise is to look at any missed steps as only that. Don’t let one tin of power pop be a masive set back.
Also as to the printer safety, might be a good idea to get some wifi plugs for them so you can just switch them off remotely if something smaller than ‘It’s all on fire’ goes wrong.
Very good idea on the WIFI plugs, I’ll look into that
Energy drink detox – congrats. Is it just me, or does Warren look like he’s lost weight? Mental health segment – I think a new post would be best. Points of View – I was going to say that I’d prefer the current format, but then I thought maybe live would be nice as it’d allow people to live comment on what was being said, which Warren reinforced by bringing up that point, so I’m sold on it now. Question is, if it’s being done from Warren’s home, will it be a fireside chat with Warren sitting in a highback… Read more »
Yeah and if its not a great fit we can always go back to the other format (or a mix) whatever works for us as a community 🙂
I’ve taken the plunge and bought the ANYCUBIC Photon 3d printer….. I’m very nervous, and excited:D
Good printer, we are just up to our eyes on the FDM’s at the moment but planning to spend some time on it again very soon – as we feel the software lets it down a bit 🙂
Yeah software seems to be the only thing knocking it in the reviews, it’s the bit I’m nervous about. The simplicity of the single moving piece and easier levelling process is the thing that sold it though
I would do a new post. The way the site works now a lot for people’s real names are appearing beside the posts and I’m sure some would like to stay anonymous and not have their personal thoughts and feelings splashed across the internet
I will have @tgu3 look into this real name thing as that’s not supposed to display just usernames 🙂
Good on you warren on ending the energy drinks, I was like you at 6 cans a day min but now 2 years dry I’m much better off and better in the pocket. congrats.
I think it was such an important subject and handled so well by you guys, that it should be shared by the wider community. Again, you guys feel like extended family. Good job on the detox, I tried a couple of times and just can’t drop my coffee or smokes. Crutches are bad, but damn, they are needed some times. @warzan I would suggest to you that a live would be great, but I think you should leave it at work. You have a family and that should be your down time to enjoy them and leave the possible negativity… Read more »
Save the video from youtube please, frontstage is STILL OTT and BoW. We can be grown up adults free from the sesspit that youtube can.. and IS! It’s a shame that youtube could simply have a comment filter, but hey that is another discussion. Cheers guys! *CONGRATS* on your Detox Warren! 6 a day… yup I’d be dead from that I’m Bruce Lee in size and muscle, so that’d crit hit me. [fit club eh? :P]
Way-to-go Justin, the whole community is behind you!
Great to see you making that big step in your health with cutting out the energy drinks @warzan, i myself used to be a big consumer of them but as you said it’s cheap energy and you pay the toll when the crash come along! Would love to take part in a live stream points of view, i think it’s a good way to go and would really help further cement the bond of the community that much more than it already is. As to making a separate thread for the opening up video for the non-backstagers, you pretty much… Read more »
I would prefer the mental health XLBS in a clean post, but won’t have problems with it if it’s not.
I do like the points of view live, I just hope it’s not on a Wednesday evening.
well done Warren for cutting out the energy drinks, most people don’t think that energy drinks can be addictive like alcohol. Was I hearing you correctly that you are wanting to get a high end PC for your self, but want the company to pay for it. SLY.
Edit the XLBS for the front stage. This could do some real good.
Hi Warren and Justin, Good to see you venturing into FDM again :). My experience with FDM is indeed that filament makes a huge difference and even more important….good STL files. Printable scenery makes the best in my experience. Just slice and print (most of the time). Have you considered approaching Prusa for a MK3 to demonstrate their capabilities? They recently had a blog about 3d printing miniature terrain, so might be open to sponsoring some content with a machine to further grow this market. https://www.prusaprinters.org/3d-print-your-own-tabletop-game-and-plenty-of-cool-accessories/ Also they have prusament which should be really good, but haven’t tried myself yet.… Read more »
Nice feedback for the Opening Up stream. I’m opting for “fresh slate”.
It did take a surprising amount of time to recover from that episode. Like I’d said I am very familiar with my “difference” and the burden it imposes. But that day I described it in a way that I hadn’t before and that released a tension that I hadn’t realized was there. It has taken the better part of this intervening time to work through.
I agree that the episode could serve a wider audience well, but I also support that it be shared in a “clean post”.
Carrying over from the ‘Opening Up’ episode I think that it would be good to have a separate post. It would work to have the emotional buffer from the first heart-wrenching tsunami that hit everybody broadside. As a special rebroadcast it is a good extended public service announcement for community well being. As a wonderful juxtaposition everybody has had great reactions during the unboxings. This has been exactly the kind of thing that I thought the spread the love event needed to be. Giftmas is a long time off but to everybody on the other end of my list it… Read more »
Points of view from your home is a great idea, but I would like to here from more than one homeworker. I am very interested in 3D printing, has anyone yet produced a complete game distributed by 3D 2D print, FREE? There is a little village just north of you with a very nice drink taken in moderation. Speaking of moderation and all things mind-blowing. I never suffered from thee dark place, thank God. Perhaps it is because my mother was a psycactrich Doctor. I would ask that before you put The XLBS out on general release that you invite… Read more »
@warzan on the topic of doing POV live that’s all well and good but I would highly recommend you put some serious consideration to doing it from your home. There always needs to be a work/home life balance and I fear that inviting us into your home, your castle, your sanctuary would cross that boundary. We already know a lot about your family and home life etc from the weekenders and other snippets but please do consider keeping us out of your home just for your own sanity, privacy and wellbeing. I used to take work home with me, research… Read more »
Fully support putting the opening up episode in a front stage post. Think it could help a lot of people. A fresh post is the best way to go – while I don’t mind my own comments going out I can’t speak for everyone and some people were very open.
Thanks for this, thanks for the community and thanks to everyone who has spoken up. I know it has helped me. Thank you.
Congrats @warzan dump those energy drinks. I was having at least 2 a day, quit almost a year ago and feel so much better for it. Just grind over that first month or two. I would personally like just the video made front stage and the comments left backstage just because (as you guys said) some people shared stuff in a closed off space. If people want to repost their comments then they can copy and paste them over. @dignity thrilled to hear you’re moving forward mate we as a community are behind you 100% The Random Acts of Kindness… Read more »
