Abby Normal Media are on Kickstarter right now with a new project looking to bring All Quiet On The Martian Front to the tabletop with a 2nd Edition! It's the Return Of The Tripods as they offer up a way to dive into some 15mm War Of The Worlds-style Sci-Fi wargaming on the tabletop.
Return Of The Tripods - All Quiet On The Martian Front // Abby Normal Media
This game sees you taking to the battlefield as the humans of Earth of the deadly Martians from deep spaaaaaace! As the folks at Abby Normal have stated on the Kickstarter, it's Man Vs Martian and Tank Vs Tripod!
The game focuses on a Martian invasion in 1904 when the tripods landed and started to terrorise the Earth. It was only when the Martians succumbed to disease that they were finally stopped in their tracks. However, now it is 1917 and the skies have lit up once again with the Return Of The Tripods!
Return Of The Tripods Campaign // Abby Normal Media
The idea of the campaign is that you'll help Abby Normal Media create a great game packed with awesome miniatures like the ones that you see here. This will be the first place for you to get your hands on the miniatures and you'll also be able to get stuck into the rules alongside other backers.

The rules, as they stand, are available as a set of Quick Start Rules to give you an idea how how it all works. You can download them HERE! In-game, you'll take on the role of the Humans or the Martians and assemble 15mm armies made up of quite "Historical" forces and epic Tripod-style armies that immediately get me thinking of the musical. You can listen to that HERE.

The game has been designed to be quick and fun to play and should scale well from smaller skirmishes through to bigger, epic battles where you have loads of Tripods rampaging through Europe and stomping on picture postcard villages.
All Quiet On The Martian Front Pledge Options
When it comes to diving into the game, there are plenty of different options for you to choose from. You can go in at a lower level and just get your hands on the rules if you like.
Company Commander Pledge // All Quiet On The Martian Front
If you want to go up a level and get your hands on some of the miniatures from the range then you can go with the First Encounter set. This works like a Starter Set in many regards and comes with two armies, the Martians and the Humans plus the PDF rules and the token set.
First Encounter Pledge // All Quiet On The Martian Front
I really love that the mass of the Martian army is made out of their Tripods and then you have the shambling Lobototons that shuffle forward and cause chaos for your Platoon Infantry. As I mentioned above, I am immediately hearing the music from the War Of The Worlds musical now and combining that with epic battle sounds like rockets and wooshing lasers and missiles!
You can also get yourself a pretty awesome pledge with the Field Marshal offering or the Swarm Leader one.

Swarm Leader Pledge // All Quiet On The Martian Front
These give you large armies of either the Humans or the Martians and you also get the physical hardback rulebook in there. A good option perhaps for those who want to focus on a specific army within the game and dive deep into the hobby side of things.
If you want to go completely in on what All Quiet On The Martian Front and Return Of The Tripods has to offer, you can also get your hands on the Overlord Pledge.
Overlord Pledge // All Quiet On The Martian Front
This comes with two huge armies of Humans and Martians, the tokens, the rules and then you also get to work with the design team to create a custom character or model for the game. I really like the idea of people getting to throw themselves into the Human force as a commander. You could also work on a fun alternative Tripod if you like!
The miniatures themselves either come in ABS Resin or you can 3D Print them as STL Files at home. That means that you can go fully digital with your pledge if you like or get your hands on the physical armies if you prefer. There are also a lot of Add-Ons for you to scoop up for both the Humans and the Martians so make sure to go and take a look at those.
If you'd like to see the full list of Martian and Human miniatures planned, you can find it over on their FAQ. The team at Abby Normal Media have also said that the rules for the British and Americans will also be coming alongside those for the Germans.
Could you be tempted to dive into this Pulpy Sci-Fi clash between Martian and Man?

The title has me hoping for something like the book trilogy and TV almost trilogy from when I was little.
Oh well this game always looked like a goodun. It ticks a lot of boxes: good setting, asymmetrical, a touch of whimsy.
Good luck to your relaunch and envy for anyone getting the $1200 pledge.
Wondered if this would appear on Bens Radar, be intrested to see how it goes, not sure about it going to kickstarter, it was mistakes in the original which bankrupt the original game. though I* did pick up a load of tripods when it went under .
As usual I like the martians but that interested in humans, mainly as I see the former Battlemech fodder or the big baddy agianst FOW allied Humans.
Very nice all though I still prefer my Martians to be fighting Victorians but I guess both sides need fighting vehicles. Be good to see aero planes circling those tripods
Soooo close to backing this one. I backed the first one heavily and got a little burnt when they went under. Never got my Ironclad and Goliath.
Funnily enough, I recently dug out my original bits as i love the premise of the game.
Decisions, decisions!
Love the idea and the Martian machines, not a fan of the scale (mostly because my terrain is all 28mm. The price is definitely out of my spending range
Run Away.
Was in a KS for this game.
Was a bloody nightmare.
Then they moved to a fraud friendly State.
Claimed zero assets.
Went under.
Then SOLD it all to these folks.
Worth O but sold it.
Just legal way to take goods already sold and sale them again to others.
RUN Away.
RUN AWAY? WRONG The Kickstarter you’re talking about was by Architects of War/Alien Dungeon. NOT Abby Normal Media (different company, different people, etc. etc.). Architects of War/Alien Dungeon was sleazy. They f’d over about everyone they did business with. Their marketing firm, artists, cartographers, miniatures manufacturers, and all their backers (at least every one I’ve ever talked to). Then they went bankrupt. THEN their assets were bought from bankruptcy court by MiniatureMarket.com DBA IronClad Games. When Miniature Market got tired of trying to support a community and found more profitable pursuits, they just let it hang. A fellow named David… Read more »
