The Design Philosophy Behind Blood & Plunder
December 19, 2018 by dignity
Mike from Firelock Games sits down with Justin to outline how Blood & Plunder came into existence but also the design philosophy that drives the game.
From pirate inspirations to the process of model making, Mike lays it all out on the table and lets us know what were the most important things to go into Blood & Plunder. In addition to the historical approach the game takes, Mike shows how units are differentiated and how their stats are translated from real-world skills and weapons to tabletop abilities.
What is your favourite historical pirate story?
These are awesome minis and paint up really well.
It’s a great game, and always nice when Mike is in the studio.
love the figures
I’ve bought in heavily to ‘Blood and Plunder’. Worth every penny!
I love these deeper dives into the creative process type of interviews. They help me sell the game to other players. When you see that the creator really is into the game and not just out to make a “buck” folks tend to buy in with more confidence.
I hope someday to get a chance to meet Mike Tunez in person and thank him for sharing this game with all of us and just maybe play a match against him.
