Terminator Genisys Miniatures Game Coming Soon!
January 2, 2015 by brennon
So we had a look at the teaser trailer for the movie not long ago and speculated as to the future of the miniatures game for us to play out the battles against Skynet on the tabletop. Well, it looks like that might become a reality this year...
Well there's already a few clues to go on that's for sure. The first is the little River Horse stamp in the corner. This means we've got the mind of Alessio Cavatore behind this for sure.
Away from that the game seems centered on the Terminator Genisys film that's coming out so it's probably going to develop some of the big military engagements we see in that film. With Cavatore at the helm we could potentially see his trademark 'easy to learn, hard to master' rules set being a thing as well.
It will be interesting to see how this one develops!
Speculate below!

This would be awesome! I’m sure someone was saying how good it would be if there was a terminator miniatures game on a video a couple of weeks ago. Well here it is. Can’t wait!
The question is who will do the miniatures?
Mantic. They work with Alessio currently and I know that ronnie has been chasing some big IP rights for a while now.
I also think it would be good. The Batman miniatures game has me intrigued at the minute.
I’d definitely buy t-800 endoskeleton miniatures!
GW have done them for years 😉
I can just imagine how much detail the dark wash / dry brush would pick up in all those recesses in an endoskeleton. Then two specks of bright red / white for the glowing eyes . . . watch out John Connor! 😀
It feels like they are more chrome and shine than grimy wash. I will go for the car chrome look for sure 🙂
Cool. Love to play Terminator minis game! Hope it goes sweetly and doesn’t have the AVP vs Predator game IP issues…. Another huge property and licence… But an Alessio Terminator game 😀 Awesome.
Summer this year? Must be nearly finished then.
… just waiting for GW to launch a horrific copyright lawsuit about necrons …
… oh wait, whoooops 😛 😛 😛
… just have to make sure no one makes a movie about tyranids next 😛
… ooooooh, burned again 😛
If it goes on Kickstarter, it will be backed 🙂
(Let’s see if they spot that one folks)
I see what you did there 😉
With Prodos already able to deal with Fox and having experience of their IP regulations, suspect they might be called on.
Aware of the controversial issues here, but as Fox are these days obsessive with control and image doubt other companies will want it.
It will be a right nightmare with a KS as rather guessing that if they hold to the regulations like others have had they will not allow images or reports out with out tight control, and this is against KS principles.
Still will be interesting.
Actually, Prodos’ Aliens Vs Predator game seems locked up in a legal debate. Prodos have deleted their kickstarter page and removed any mention of it from their website. I don’t pretend to have any insight but apparently Fox feels they did not maintain their end of whatever deal they had… just a heads up.
This isn’t completely accurate. There isn’t a legal debate at this time (updates can be found on Facebook).
Currently the hold-up that the lore needs to be rewritten and came back being denied. There isn’t more details than that, it could mean it was awful and they took too much of a creative license or it could be as simple as some names needed updating.
Roguestar, really you should check facts before making an ‘I think’ comment that puts the wind up people.
Prodos have announced that the game is definitely going ahead (although their handling of comms has been really bad by any measure) – there was just a new update today for KS backers. The hold up is now apparently due to the content of the fiction they had written in the rulebook, which Fox want amending.
Am a small backer of the AvP Prodos game and een following on the Fb page. What has been said was the KS page maybe/may-not have been an accident. But all is still going ahead.
What is causing delays is that all updates, changes, amendments, images, concepts have to go through Fox first, who check them, send back if needed, check the updates, and say what can and cannot be released to backers.
Fox seem to want a big release with everything quiet until the release day and Prodos with the KS do not.
still it’s proving an education.
Probably looking forward to this more than any other KS for 2015 (perhaps with the exception of Conan – a busy year for Arnie! 🙂 )
As has been mentioned, hopefully things will run more smoothly than with AvP/Prodos..
I might not be looking forward to movie but this game does interest me in some degree.
Prodos is actually in a really good position for this. Once they finish the AVP Kickstarter, they will not only have relations with Fox but have also learned of all the ‘issues’ that can pop up with such a huge project. They would be able to plan accordingly and provide a good basis.
With that said though… they would first have to deliver AVP because I doubt anyone is going to back them in such a project, until that KS has been completed and delivered.
Nope, no KS!
How many factions would there be in a Terminator universe?
I only know of two, but then again my Terminator knowledge is probably limited to, I’ll be back.
2 factions. to start with…
Game mechanics based on BA or a completely new system?
I can’t wait to see what Alessio comes up with! I bet he has detailed files… 😛
Well, at least we won’t spend the money before the actual release. KS or no KS, bring it on! We are waiting. 🙂
As for Fox/Prodos issue, I believe it was more about Fox not knowing how to deal with a tabletop/board game manufacturer. They are probably more used to licensing their IP to the PC/console game designers.
New mechanics. No KS and no chess involved!
😉
No KS is a good sign in my books. That means they don’t need the communities help and can work on this project with as much time as they need without us shouting “wheres my bloody minis!?”
Oh Alessio, can you like be the first company to make a game with the models being 1:1 scale? It make me very happy mate 😉
This is indeed 2 good news in one – 1st that game will be created and 2nd that allesio is doing it.
outstanding news, Carn’t wait to give this one a crack!
Its gonna be a busy year, AVP, KOW v2, Relics, Martain Front, Warzone & Specture!
I just hope a game like this can keep going even after the hype of the movie dies down. Look at GW with the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit. It was big when the movies were in theaters or in production but now that the movies are wrapped up, you don’t here much about the games anymore. Also, I hope they don’t just limit the game to what happens in the Genisys movie. There is plenty of material from the previous 4 movies and several comic book series to draw from.
Sure, plenty of material but without KS funding, it will be over several years, not sure that is actually a bad thing though.
I agree with you. Spread the workload out over time and this will be better off. KS seems to always force producers to go in hyper mode as they need to get stuff out within a rather short time frame for backers and to justify the stretch goals.
If they just go with a reasonable timetable for releases, us the public can get used to it expect it when it comes out. Everyone wins this way.
