It's Community Spotlight time and I can't wait to show off what we've found this week.

T'au Army by artemis5150

We have some great models coming out of this project by artemis5150 for the T'au army he just finished painting as a commission. It looks superb with a really nice military colour scheme.

The deep green of the suits is a fascinating choice and I like the clash of it against the white helmets. It's a hard effect to achieve but I like that the highlighted brighter green also works so nicely against the rest of the model.

As you can see the whole force is suited towards, well, suits and they come with some fantastic looking armaments, especially the glowing plasma of those larger cannons.

I would imagine that a lot of the effects on the model have been achieved by use of an airbrush and I think that's generally the technique you should be using to paint T'au. Considering the number of armour plates on display I think a quick airbrush of the base coat and highlights follow up by some brushwork for definition makes for a quick and striking force.

Personally, maybe I would have gone for a different basing material, something potentially darker or in a different tone, but it certainly works to echo the planetary environments you'd probably find these T'au in.

Death by voidifremoved

Next up we've got something a little smaller with a character piece by voidifremoved that was done for his Mother for Christmas.

Based on the version of him from the Hogfather and designed in miniature form by Micro Art Studio this is an awesome piece and I love the attention to detail that's gone into the model, especially the skull of Death himself.

Overall the model has gone through some nice steps to bring it to life and whilst the base isn't finished yet I would assume a nice simple design would work very well. The nice spots of colour on the presents and the way the cloak has been highlighted are also getting a big thumbs up from me.

Maximilian Racing Cars by hutch

And now for something completely different as we take a look at the racing cars that have been painted up by hutch for use with the Maximilian rules set. They are looking clean and brightly coloured - just what you want for brash racing drivers and their automobiles.

Each of the different cars comes from the collection by Eureka Miniatures and is for the steampunk racing game called Maximilian where your gentlemen hare it round the race course shooting each other at the same time.

As I mentioned above I love all the big, bold, brash colours and it works very nicely against the plain desert basing that hutch has gone with. The lines look clean and clearly defined across the model and I think they have a wonderful final polish to them.

I can't wait to see more of what hutch has up his sleeve for this range as I think it would be wonderful to see it grow and indeed explore lots more characterful cars too. A fantastic job which makes for some bold racers.
