Get Involved! Spring Clean Hobby Challenge 2021
March 25, 2021 by crew
It's the return of the Spring Clean Hobby Challenge. It's Springtime, a period of the year all about renewal and regrowth. We're asking you to crack out your old, broken, badly painted (yet still awesome) projects and give them a new lease of life.
Get Involved Here
All you have to do is delve into the Project Section and get building yourself a new entry that shows us your progress as you turn something old into something new.
How To Get Involved
Here's a rundown of what you need to do to be involved...
- Create a Project
- Click on the Drop Down Menu for Related Contest and choose Spring Cleaning Hobby Challenge
- Start by showing us what you began with, an old model, piece of terrain, army or something more esoteric like a diorama!
- Fill in your entries throughout the period of the contest showing us how you turned something old into something new
We can't wait to see what kind of projects you bring together for this one.
Prizes & More
Of course, it wouldn't be a challenge without some prizes thrown into the mix.
- The challenge runs from 24th March through to 20th June (which just so happens to be all (most) of Springtime!) so you've got about a few months to develop your projects
Prizes will be given out to...
- Best Skill - The most skilled work, be it painting or overall finish.
- Best Tutorial - The person who shows us, in detail, the steps from start to finish
- Best Idea - You don't have to have finished your work to be able to produce something which showed great skill in the planning!
- Best Junior Member - Someone under the age of 16 will also win themselves a prize!
All entries will be judged based on the number of votes received in each of those categories and our own personal choices from here at the studio.
The prizes will be...
4x £50 Vouchers For The OnTableTop Store
So make sure you delve into this and get stuck in. We as part of the OnTableTop crew are most certainly going to be getting involved ourselves and showing off work we've been doing on our own armies.
Get involved!

Starting 24th April? Not March?
And where do I find my motivation to work on the old stuff?
Your motivation could be under that pile of old stuff…
And while you search for it… see if you find mine ?
And if I find it? What then? Sell it on ebay? 😉
Not sure anyone would buy it, but I would appreciate knowing where it is and if you can send it back to me I’ll refund the postage 🙂
That is what’s called an annoying typo. So yes, March…today. Right now.
Glad to be of service… but wait… right now? No time for preparation?
*panic*
*runs screaming circles*
*thudd*
Great now @sundancer needs to find motivation and a medkit…
“I’m not dead yet”
Careful in the Pile of Opportunity, that Opportunity looks heav*crash*
Uok?
Never pull things from the lower parts…. always work from the top dow…. oh, look at that
*pulls*
I MADE A MIStaaaaaaa*crumble*
Sometimes pulling from the lower parts is not so bad… depends who is doing it…
Oh look… I found my innuendo… wondered where that was.
So if March instead of April is a typo… what do you call the 2020 Olympics taking place in 2021 with no foreign visitors?
I won’t be in for a prize but I have plenty stuff I’d like to get clean.
Inquisitor Space Marine?
Cor now you’re talking!
you do yours and I’ll do mine we could be project buddies 😛
You’re on! I need to find my Nato black … and his head ?
Lol no one expected that @Avernos
haha this is funny I started my spring clean with Silver Tower before it was even announced, I assumed it might not be happening.. anyway will finish that and start another project… I have hard Sharpe, Harper and Chosen Men sat around for quite a time now so maybe this is the moment to revisit.
I started my Spring Clean Challenge so early the project tells me it was this time last year. Oh wait, that was last year’s project that didn’t get off the ground. I’d better spring clean my previous spring clean then.
Nice to know.
Now all I have to do is find a way to explain to my professors why I stopped handing in assignments… Do you think I can still get away with ‘The Event (Stay Indoors)’ as an excuse?
Is there a limit to number of Spring Clean projects one may enter?
i.e. I will probably do some odds and sods painting, but might get into a bigger project too, so thinking of doing separate projects for those.
Now, I started my “Spring clean” project early, at the start of the year in fact. The reason being that I want to try and get it all done by the end of June. Is that project still allowed to be considered? I can’t really start a second project because I have set myself a challenge of all of Star Saga in 6 months, obviously that’s not conducive to doing multiple projects.
Oh dear, I’e gone for this challenge BIG TIME! I have restarted my Stalingrad Themed terrain and armies for Bolt Action. The revamping unfinished miniatures, some of which have been in an unpainted limbo for years, has been successful, and has lead to buying more miniatures and scenery to bolster what I have.
