UPDATE: Spammer Attack!!!
August 30, 2019 by brennon
30/08/2019 UPDATE: We have had to turn the protection up a bit again, as we started to get a flood of spam accounts again. When you are presented with a spam protection form pklease do take two secs to fill it out and put a human message in there so we can add you to the nice list - Warren
This does, however, mean that some of you have also got caught in the spammer web meaning that you can't post or are experiencing all sorts of weird quirks when it comes to talking either in the comments section of posts or on the forums.
We want you to know that we are very aware of this and are working to try and solve the issue for everyone. In the meantime, if you are experiencing issues please direct them to the Technical Support Forum where the guys will be taking a look at all of your issues and using it to fix the problem.
So, once again, we are aware of the problem and direct all of your questions, queries and oddities to the Technical Support Forum.
Bear with us and hopefully, you now want to eat lots of Spam...
spam spam spam spam spam bacon and spam…..
Bacon’s off…
bloody vikings…
This is a problem every community manager needs to fight through every now an then thanks for th heads up.
I prefer bacongrill
the site also doesn’t appear to like you if you’re using VPNs
@collins which bit of the site, video content or just browsing? Youtube and Vimeo both employ anti vpn solutions to try and stop people bypassing geo fenced content i.e. US only film trailers, so unless you are running your own VPN server (dead easy to do on a £5 a month virtual machine with pfsense or similar security linux distro) your endpoint IP is probably black listed at the video host end. If its browsing the site thats the problem then its the anti spam measures we have had enable recently to combat “ancient magic love doctor wizard potion amorous… Read more »
Interestingly it was when I was trying to log in from the main page, not when I was trying to stream content. Once I turned off the VPN it allowed me in. I don’t have my own VPN server, I expect the IPs available to my subscription are blacklisted as you suggest
mmmmmmm spaaaammmmm I will put the grill on!
I’m sure you guys will fix everything! Spam is rather nice…
Here I thought OTT was trying to be all sorts of avantgarde with a Warhol reference. We got some sort of culture in here which isn’t from the corners of the Internet best left alone (despite pop culture).
I prefer Spam cooked in my cast iron skillet!
Throw in four eggs sunny side up and two pieces of toast and you’ve got a fine meal.
You are so right on that! That is a grand meal indeed.
ill just leave this hear.

This certainly explains the odd emails I’ve received as well as the need to do basic math before posting.
The basic math has nothing to to with fighting spam, its just community outreach to help everyone with dice modifiers.
Nah im lying its all anti spam
It wont let me post on some threads at all any more
I can log in on my phone, but on my laptop it is calling me a spammer. Using Chrome on both and over the same wi-fi.
Could be that its used to you logging in on your phone so the site sees you logging in from a different machine and cries false alarms. At least the phone works, bloody spammers. Coming over here interfering with our toy soldier discussions
Good to know they are trying to keep ahead of it
