Let’s Play: A Song of Ice & Fire Game of Thrones Scenario
December 7, 2017 by dignity
CMON designer Michael Shinall is back to challenge Justin at miniature game A Song of Ice and Fire.
In the first play through the guys demonstrated the mechanics in a shorter version of the Game of Thrones scenario, but this time they'll be playing through a full 30 point game with Justin defending the honour of House Stark and Michael paying the debts of House Lannister.
The game will have five different game scenarios or "modes". The one the guys are playing involves armies fighting to claim various objectives across the battlefield, each granting a unique power.
The other scenarios are:
- A Clash of Kings: Players only start with a small portion of their army, with the rest arriving throughout the game.
- A Feast for Crows: The mental fatigue of the battlefield takes its toll on units as bodies stack up across the battlefield.
- A Storm of Swords: One army must hold off their opponent in a mighty castle siege.
- The Winds of Winter: Both armies take to the battlefield to complete secret missions, hidden from their opponents.
The game was open to pledges on Kickstarter back in July and ended up reaching over five times their initial goal. The game is due to ship next April so as Michael states in the video some of the pieces shown are the early prototype versions.
Did you manage to get in on the Kickstarter?

Brutal, brutal game chaps. Two words for @dignity…God Dice. Never have i seen anyone roll to hit / damage dice like it. We’re playing a lot of Dungeon Saga and All Out War at my flgc and i would kill for dice rolls like those.
As to the KS, it passed me by, but only because my wallet was already neck deep in another project.
the rules seem interesting , wish you could download them for free to have a look.
You can from the KS campaign page, it’s a good read to see how the game works or wip rules here http://resources.cmon.com/SIF-RULEBOOK-WIP.pdf
Each time i see you play i have to think about my wallet lol, (not yet, not yet)…
