Judging by your shirt @avernos how many of these videos did you do on one day? 😉
I don’t know. I was weak with hunger by the end of them.
Round bases?
are there any other shapes? 😉
Square and oval
That’s heretic propaganda!
I could afford to waste round bases as they aren’t needed for anything.
I’ve been using these for a while and the cutters are a blessing. I would add that when using a cookie cutter don’t wiggle it from side to side as you cut. On something like a tech base it may distort the lines towards the base edge.
Never tried these, but I am a lazy baser at the best of times. Interesting product.
give them a go, they’re the dogs Bo**ox. some great effects
Great little tutorial. The vaseline tip made me do a facepalm. It’s so obvious a choice, I can’t understand why I haven’t used it myself instead of water. 😀
You may also use talcum or baby powder, I find them easier to wash afterwards.
or KY Jelly
Hadn’t seen the cutter before, like the idea. I used the tube the rolling pin came in a cutter in the past as it was the same size as the wolsung bases I was working with.
if using them to do bases do you still need to stick the plastic base underneath or would the right choice of putty make that redundant
definitely grey/green stuff would remove the need for the base. Milliputt can be too brittle and risks shattering if you dropped it
I like that with the rings you can make special bases for your army’s.
So what I am asking is umm, can these be used on cookies? 🙂 may be an excuse to get a set.
Sometimes you have to think outside the box.
@avernos would love to see you do bake off!
the spacers are a great idea, for Super Sculpey the mini height its 3 mm (i think it’s 3mm) or you get warping when you bake them. Like super sculpey you get great definition and sharp edges, very robust and easy to work with
Rolling pin and cookie cutters, and not a pie insight (or did the crew get to them first).
Liking the look of these, and i bet there`s a lot more you could do with them. Cobbled street or side of a building, or even used for a river bed.
there are dozens of designs currently so definitely you can go nuts with them, I’ve got 5 I think currently worth the investment for armies over buying resin bases, but more work to get there
Thanks @avernos!
I’ve been looking at these a few times when I’ve been in the store, now i know how to go about using them too!
I cant be bothered with Vaseline, I wait about 20 min after applying miliput to base, soak pin with water and roll. all bits that stay in pin I clean with old electric toothbrush head, it takes seconds to clean.
How do they do with lipped bases, such as those that came with Wrath of Kings or Kingdom Death? Does the lip interfere very much?
Hi people and @avernos…
Is it a good idea to let the milliput cure a little before rolling or straightaway?
Also any tips on cleaning the rollers when you get gubbins in the small holes?
personally I would add a little bit of plastercine to make it easier to work. Let it cure slightly before making your cast.
Finally once you’ve used the roller a warm soapy bath with a cheap scrubbing brush is key. Before it sets it’s water soluble so clean it early
