Dark Age Week: Re-Sculpting Miniatures For The Forsaken & Outcast
May 3, 2016 by dignity
As we know Dark Age has gone through something of a transition over the past few months and that means we've been seeing some re-sculpting of some of the factions.
In this video we're going to be looking at what changed for The Forsaken and The Outcast and why they chose this new direction.

Definately like the new resculpts over the old ones. Keep up the good work guys, look forward to seeing more updated minis in the future 🙂
Cool minis as always
Nice to see the more real world sculpts and some of the others being released are just beautiful.
Definitely like the newer versions not a fan of oversized heads & hands.
I like like the most of the new scupt has they have a more conhesive fell to it.
The new dynamic posing is awesome 🙂
Those re-sculpts are cool, really liking the dynamic poses a lot of them seem to have as well as the more realistic proportions
I want all the new models … with more dynamic poses et realistic proportions
good they resculpt everything because I would not jump in to that game seeing old stuff, new minis are mint!
Love the sculpts!
New minis = stunning 😀
Loving the new results, particularly the Coils and the Bane. Had the originals, yet these are far more sinister. Looking forward to see what they do with the Skaard and Brood
I still like a few of the old figures better than the new versions. Like the St Mark one, it think the old one still looks great
The new minis looks great, but they look a bit scary to paint with my paint style.
new sculpts definitely brings the game up to date. Looking more like a miniature game than a game with miniatures
new minis cool but fragile.
what are they sculpted in?
Most of the miniatures are cast in metal, and the larger models (like the mounts for the Saints) are cast in resin.
The newer style is so much better, realistic feel wins every time!
The Coil troops look really good, im still a bit confused on putting together a force to play with, Is there set force organization of just pile what you want in?
Its pretty open. Once you’ve chosen your faction (or subfaction) then you’ll have a list of units available to you on the faction document.
From there you can pretty much just field what units you want, though each unit will have a max number of models you can field per 500 (or sometimes 1000) points, as noted on the unit card.
A small number of units also have a prerequisite (also noted on the card) for example the Dragyri greater elementals require you to also field a soul warden.
Hope that helps.
Really looking forward to what the guys from CMON will resculpt next…
And some terrain would be cool.
I like both generations of the models, the new ones are incredibly well done technically. But part of me prefers some of the older looks, especially for the Outcast. The newer models all seem to look a bit too clean and sharp, for instance the Outcast armour just doesn’t look damaged, bent or degraded enough to be actual junk. While something niggles me about all the crisp, clean lines and perfect moulding on most of the new Forsaken equipment. Considering that this is meant to be a desolate wasteland and even new tech is meant to basically be botched together… Read more »
Love this direction, there new sculpts look great but take advantage of the development in that area of the industry. They are not re-sculpting for re-sculpting sake, they are re-sculpting to put across this world of theirs in an even better way. Something I am really buying into at the moment
Is the mass re sculpt the reason why I cannot seem to purchase much- even from the coolminiornot web store?
I like te new sculpts alott and I just bought some outcast to use in the RPG Mutant Year zero^^
To be fair the old scultps are good tobut the reason I do not own any of them is thath I never seen them in my country (Sweden).
I really enjoy both series of models for different reasons. The old models basically get me right in the nostalgias: I started buying my own gaming materials in the late 90’s and these just hark back to that time, playing some of those other skirmish games I used to play.
The new models though look really sharp. True scale just looks so much better in comparison. I think the design is great, the faction miniatures have an aesthetic that is more cohesive.
Though… missile mace 😀
Massive difference between the Originals and the Newer sculpts, but still very true to the Image of the character/model — Great stuff!
