Res Nova Games’ Warzone Eternal Returns To Kickstarter
May 3, 2023 by brennon
Res Nova Games are back on Kickstarter with a revamped campaign that is looking to bring the world of Warzone back to the tabletop. Their skirmish game, Warzone Eternal, features loads of great entry points for newcomers and veterans and is very much in line with some of the older editions of Warzone in terms of style and mechanics!
Warzone Eternal Kickstarter // Res Nova Games
Since the last Kickstarter, the team at Res Nova Games have been working on playtesting and refining gameplay mechanics so that the game plays nice and smoothly when it hits the tabletop. The idea is that the rules will be fast-paced and engaging whilst focusing on scenario-based missions where the objective isn't to just wipe your opponent off the tabletop.
Warzone Eternal Rulebook // Res Nova Games
Games are played out on a 3x3 table and will usually feature armies of between ten and twenty miniatures although there is space for you to go bigger if you prefer. Alternating activation means that you're always in the moment and able to react to what your opponent is doing and both heroes and regular soldiers work independently, giving that heroic feel to your games as one trooper could change the course of battle.
There is also the new Reaction system in Warzone Eternal that allows you to do a select few actions in response to the enemy. As well as that, each faction has access to a bunch of different special abilities and more meaning that your Bauhaus should feel very different to your friend's Mishima army for example. If you're interested in the rules, you can find out more HERE.
Updated & Revamped Miniatures
As well as tinkering with the rules for the game, Res Nova has also worked on updating the miniatures that you get access to during the campaign. Every sculpt is now dynamically posed and will come as a single-piece figure that you paint up for your army. This means that some of the modularity of the previous sculpts has gone but you do get a lot of interesting miniatures in your Starter Box now!
Algeroth Starter Box // Warzone Eternal
If there was a miniature that wasn't modified from the previous campaign, it has instead been resculpted from scratch. This means that in the case where they felt like a miniature didn't quite work, they have updated it and made it feel even more "Warzone".
Bauhaus Starter Box // Warzone Eternal
Brotherhood Starter Box // Warzone Eternal
A third unit type has also been thrown into the mix for each of the Megacorporation factions in the game and the Brotherhood has now entered the ring as yet another faction for you to consider starting Warzone Eternal with. This means that you now have much more choice than you previously did and get access to some dynamic and interesting miniatures. From what I've seen here, the miniatures have got plenty of awesome "old-school" charm to them whilst also benefiting from updated sculpting and modelling techniques.
Capitol Starter Box // Warzone Eternal
When it comes to actually getting your hands on the miniatures and the rules, you can pledge for just the new Warzone Eternal Rulebook or a Faction Box. You can also go up a level to the Skirmish pledge and get your hands on the Rulebook plus two Faction Starter Boxes. This seems like the best level to get stuck in at if you're eager to start out with a friend. Split the price of the pledge and away you go!
Cybertronic Starter Box // Warzone Eternal
You can level up beyond that and also get a bunch of tokens and such for use in the game or just dive in and get every single one of the new factions and play as all of them. I guess that's the best way to work out which one suits your playstyle. I quite like going by the rule of cool and in this case, the Brotherhood is ticking a lot of boxes.
Imperial Starter Box // Warzone Eternal
Mishima Starter Box // Warzone Eternal
Bonus miniatures are already in the works for all of the factions plus if you back the campaign in the first seventy-two hours then you can also get your hands on the downed Brotherhood Archangel Pilot who could be used in games as an objective marker.
Make sure to check out the campaign on Kickstarter and let us know which faction you're going to be picking up. Do you like the updates that they have added for this revamped Kickstarter and could it tempt you back into the world of Warzone?

Never had any touching points with Warzone. The minis look nice but 120USD + shipping + VAT for 14 minis and a rulebook. I think I’ll pass. May take a look at it if/when it arrives at the FLGS.
Once again they priced themselves right out of the market.
I was thinking the same thing. TTCombat charges 65 pounds for a proper two players starter set of Carnevale and it has more than this one. I do not know why new companies think that by charging more money, they will make more profits. I like to support indie games, but the cost of getting into this game is outrageous.
Ooh fabulous looking figures especially the space commando’s (imperial) an the undead/zombie’s (algeroth) unit’s.
I have a fair sized Bauhaus army and a pretty decent Imperial one – the original plastic & metal minis from Target Games – might buy the rulebook.
This again? It’s like me writing FINAL_FINAL_FINAL_Final_RealeaseNotes.docx
Ps good luck
The KS has been fully funded, now we just need to wait and make sure the campaign finishes.
Okay, round two… Let’s hope this time it actually finishes and meets its fulfillment.
It’s hard to not feel bad for this franchise; it has its cult following, but it seems like every company who handles the IP either mishandles it spectacularly or folds.
They game rules say the game size is 10 to 20 models, you would think the starters would at least have the minimum needed to play. If you’re going to charge 50 bucks for a starter, why not have all the starters have the same number of models. You can afford to put 9 in one box, then all the boxes should have the same number of models. You’re not Corvus Belli. You dont get to charge the higher end prices with a completely untested game. Sorry, you gotta earn that kind of money. Starters are meant to be a… Read more »
That is some AI-generated art, or I’ll eat my hat. Not too big of a fan of that.
More to the point, though, Warzone/Mutant Chronicles/Doom Troopers is cool. Maybe this time it’ll catch on?
Edit: I just realized they might be using that as place-holder art. I’ll withdraw my pre-judgment…for now.
Hope this does well. But I must say for their 2nd try after 1 year it still lacks a lot that a KS should have. 1. No info on retail price information and no discount for backers. 2. No gameplay video…could you imagine?!?! 3. Only 8 pages of rules…by far not enough to make a decision on what to back because I have no idea what I need/want to have!!! 4. Starters and add-ons have 3 duplicates…for a skirmisher with a low model count not really a plus! 5. Nothing was done with the community….no interview, unboxing, painting or playing… Read more »
Can’t help but feel bad for warzone fans – it seems to be a real poisoned chalice when it comes to actually keeping the game going. These minis look lovely and hopefully this time it stands a fighting chance.
If not then by the end of the decade every single warzone fan will have probably owned the IP for a short while.
